Pitting on the windshield

I drive quite a lot of highway and I have noticed that that my windshield is full of these little pits which I assume is from rocks and debris. But I have never seen so many on any of the cars I've driven, even my old E70 didn't have so many after 100k+.

Does BMW still do two brands of windshields or something?

Both my A4 and the X5 have this pitting on the windshield as well.

My X5 2016 with 7,000 miles has tons of them..... Very weird to have so many is so little time.
Poor quality finishing.
