Carly App
Hello and thank for reading. I recently came across this Carly App, and naturally curious if anyone tried it? Their product seemed to be interesting, and promising, and site is cool, with almost instant and personalized reply to my inquiry. So, long story short, i purchased the adapter, (which was extremely easy to do since site forwards to a local Amazon store), and eager to try ones i receive the adapter. I know there is another thing to buy, which is an App itself. Wish me luck. I will start coding with E90 which my wife drives.

If you don't mind to share... what did you like about it? How do you try it? Coding? Anything else?

i had started with the GEN 1 adapter, for E series chassis. worked as advertised, simplified coding by a mile. when i got my f15, i waited for the GEN 2 adapter, and sure enough it works exactly the same way, very easy to use. All u have to do is select module>function>on/off>code and wait, thats it. only down side is the adapter or app itself does not support as much features to be coded as using the actual cable and a laptop. for example, for the f15, if i wanted to turn off the cornering lights feature, it's not available via the app/adapter, but u can code it via cable/laptop. im sure through time the app will have more functions added/supported.

I'm very interested in this also.
Nice project for after the holidays. Seasons greetings to my fellow forum members.

I have it. Mine only currently seems to support some modules as apparently my car is too new. I have been able to code stop start off and also comfort access settings. I really wanted to code DVD in motion and add rear lights with front DRLs. I guess I just have to wait for updates despite their website saying it will work now.
In general seems like a good bit of kit with lots of scope for more... |

This looks interesting and I might get one.
does this do "global/default" changes and also individual changes by profile? I'd want to turn off the auto start/stop globally, but I'd want to make changes to my profile that my wife would not necessarily want. |

As it was said above, functionality is somewhat limited on F platform, however when I tried it on E90 ( wife's car) I was able to code pretty much all I wanted including dvd in motion.

Carly App
Save your money and wait to it matures. After paying over $120 for the adapter and software, it is very limited in what it can do on an F15 2016 X5. I bought it to reprogram a new battery in a 2009 X5. That worked flawlessly. I was also able to enable some features on the 2009, such as: folding mirrors by locking with the keyfob, and enabling tailgate close with the inside button and remote.
With my 2016 X5, the functions are much more limited. The BDC module is the only module worth programming. KOMB and CSM are available, but there is nothing of interest to reprogram. Here is what I was able to do in the BDC module

It takes them a little while to crack the changes BMW makes, then the features available on older software versions appear. They update every few weeks, so keep checking The android version also appears to get more frequent updates

Isn't this just a quickie for coding. What's wrong with breaking out the laptop and the wire? Just asking because from reading here it seems to offer way less than what regular coding does.

This exactly IS quickie))))Well, nothing wrong with hooking up a pc and connecting to the car, but for some people ( like myself) it is still a bit cumbersome. I was able to code just few simple things with Esys, however i do not feel comfortable doing it. At the same time Carly offers a very easy to understand UI in a language of your liking, and the same basic coding is possible.

Some are not capable of navigating the complexity of coding using the pc format, either because they are intimidated by the pages and pages of instructions that would have to be read on forums like this and the general complexity of it, or some, (like me) who really don't want to invest the amount of time it would take to get up to speed. It's a pretty complex learning curve. I got the Carly mainly for my E92 M3, where it has been useful. It is pretty new to the f15, just recently updated to include it. They appear to be continuing to update, adding more capability as they go.
