Interior Rattling

Hey guys

I have a 2016 X5 35i M Sport line with the Ivory Nappa Extended leather

I notice quite often there is this rattle that comes from behind the steering wheel by the instrument cluster. Just sounds like loose plastic rattling or something. When it rattles and I press on the plastic by the instrument cluster it stops most of the time. Has anyone experienced this? It really annoys the heck out of me. Any solutions??

Thanks!

I'll tell ya, I have chased rattles in every car I've ever owned. Ford, GM, Audi, Hyundai, and 3 BMWs. There's little luck to be had in that, and it'll drive you nuts trying. It may be an easy fix but in most cases you're as likely to make something else rattle as you try to track it down. Best of luck but don't go mad over it. Your car is decaying every day you own it anyway.

1 and 3 mm felt adhesive felt tape does wonders for rattles. Amazon has them in various sizes and thickness. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...=1mm+felt+tape Apply to seams and and inside the trim borders.

Take it to the dealer and let them fix it.

When I was working in the auto industry as a OEM supplier we would have numerous meetings with the BSR engineers. Yes, BSR is an acronym for buzz, squeak and rattle and they have a whole discipline trying to prevent the same.

Apparently they are not always successful!

Zach do you mind posting a pic of which piece you find rattling on your inst. cluster?
I have a high pitched creak that I've been trying to track down and it does drive me nuts. The rest of the car is very quiet and this one thing really stands out. I had it fixed at dealer 6 months ago and now it's back. They supposedly put felt tape in last time, but I'm not sure where.

Just fund the problem area is the heated steering button on the side of the steering rack. I put tape on it to hold it while i was driving and no sound coming from the area anymore.
Will let Service know in my next visit.
