HK Settings

Anyone have good settings? Looking to reduce the very predominant bass. Like more crispness and tighter bass.

You're going to get the world for responses here. Put on some of your favourite music and play with the settings until you get them where you want them. I found that it took me about a month to fine tune them the way I wanted.

If you want tighter base, gonna need to swap out the underseat subs. Not gonna find it with the H/K subs or by adjusting settings.

^+1 Swap out the underseat woofers to BAV sound for $350. Easy plug and play solution and you will see an immediate improvement in mid punch. If you truly want to go up a notch. Install a dedicated sub, such as a JL Audio solution. For about $650 installed, you will be in a completely different level of audio enjoyment.

try this: go to graphic eq and drop the second from lowest (i think its 250 hz) bass slider below zero set middle about 3 or 4 clicks. When the system is flat there s too much output in that 250hz area and it makes the bass bloated amd untight. Then add 100 hz first slider until you like the level of bass. I like a lot of bottom so I have my 100hz slider almost max. I also added some extra high end to balance. My bass and treble settings are then set flat.

Where did you find these for $350? Their website is priced at $497.

They frequently run $100 off sales, I just received an email with that deal yesterday. Sign-up for their email list and wait for a sale to kick in... shouldn't take long.

Thanks all. Will look at Bav sound. I like to listen to classic rock, folk, most modern stuff but I really hate the current trend of all bass that's sloppy and you never hear the bright tones etc of some music.

I actually use key profiles to toggle different EQ depending on various genres of music or talk radio. I mostly use flac audio. I keep treble and base rather flat, with slight rear fade, and make all much adjustments in EQ settings.

BAV sound also has clearance site.

I had this setting print screened from the old menu from my 2015 M4 and it really makes a difference. Maybe you guys can adjust your settings using it.

yikes some of those settings...please try what I suggested it works for all genres. As a musician for 40 years we have a little insight. The system is built with a big bump at 200 hz. raise 100 and lower 200 and the system will sound full but not bloated.

Those are the settings in my car and it doesn't sound bad. I had a 2017 X6 as a loaner with HK and it's settings were awful, it was not getting close to mine. I did not spend time setting it up though, I was too lazy to do that.

Wouldn't HK have worked with BMW and created the default settings for their speaker system for the F15 as the best setting? Why would HK have the defaults for this car wrong? Do they and BMW not have sound testing equipment when designing and installing a speaker system into a new model car?

There is no one size fits all "best" setting. I use four different ones in my vehicles, using key profiles menu to toggle.

I also had 2017 X5 35i loaner with HK with new iDrive 5.0 and it seems the 2017 HK system has more "boomier" bass than our 2015 X5 50i with HK at flat bass/treble/EQ settings. Sounds like BMW's HK system has more boomy bass than 2014-2016 F15 HK system. At first it seems nice for hip-hop and pop music but after a while seems to "sloppy" and gives you a headache.

I have had 2016 X5 loaners with HK and appears to be similar to our 2015 F15 HK. The 2017 F15 with new iDrive 5.0 touchscreen and HK appears to have changed.

Just curious, any details on what HK components BMW changed earlier this year?
