Sports displays - data source ??

Hi, I was wondering about the Sports Display indstruments - where do the data come from? How is the HP measured? vs. like a Dyno.....

meaning how accurate it is and does it really correspond +/- to the actuall HP or is it just somewhat interepreted values like throttle open whatever paramteres or so and displayed like a "HP"

Search or post this in the F10 forum, I beleive few folks try to program this on pre-facelift 5 series so they may have the answer to your question.
apparently this was only possible in cars prodcued after 2012 for F10.

We had Dinan installed on my wifes 35i, and were told by the dealer that these gauges would not reflect the additional power and torque output because the gauges were just "approximated displays". Not sure what "inputs" they use, though.

Yup - they're just a static table that maps RPM by gear to an approximate power output. If you purchase the MPPK they update the table.

ok, that is somewhat what I thought. but it should than correlate to the fact that if something is wrong with the engine you should be able to tell as it will not reach 100%.......... I had this happen when my air intake was faulty, barely got the indicators to half whilst flooring it.....
