Atomic80,

Did you do the opticoat 2.0 or the pro, i have seen both on here. I assume you recommend it. Do you still apply anything over it like wax from time to time? Did you check out any of the other systems? Considering something here when i get mine in a week, i dont mind waxing, but i want the best shine i can get

thanks

Most don't recommend waxing over OptiCoat because it washes right off. If you want a deeper shine once you get OptiCoat (pro is the higher quality one from what I have read - two comparable competitors are C-Quartz Finest and Ceramic Pro 9H), people use something called Reload.

I actually DONT recommend opticoat. I recommend Matrix nanocoating. I've had that on my Porsche for 8 years now and it's STILL there and still beading and does a good job of protecting the paint. I've never had to wax the Porsche but however the Opticoat did not do a good job of protecting the paint when bird crap hit the paint. I'm hoping to get the nanocoating applied in the near future instead.

Thanks for this update. I was leaning more towards C-quartz between Opticoat and C-quartz under the recommendation of my detailer, and your comment helps further. I've never heard of Matrix nanocoating. Do you mind sharing some info on it compared to these? Thanks, Jason.

I found their website but not sure if they're still selling their stuff..if you can get your hands on these, I highly recommend them!!!!!

This is how my 997TT looked back in 2007 when it was first applied

Wow, the 997 still looks gorgeous! That coating truly makes the car pop with vivid color (I'm sure that's also from your photo skills - did you use the CPL at all to get rid of the reflections?). I'll look into them to see if they're still around. Thanks, my friend .

I try to always use a CPL when photographing a car. There's a special technique that has to be used when applying the nanocoating but it's worth it. Ask your detailer if he can do it for you.

Yeah, I was really impressed with your hobby and decided to start some photography for fun. I bought a Canon G16 as a starter camera last week and have been messing around with it. My most recent pictures were taken with it in Aperture mode F1.8 (not the best lighting or background to capture depth, but I'm a newbie). I also ordered a Polaroid 58mm Aluminum Lens And Filter Adapter Tube with 58MM Tiffen CP Glass Filter for car photography.

Thanks for the information, I'll ask my detailer...he's the best in my town and knows his stuff so I'm sure he's definitely heard of it.

Also, I was going to comment to Z that your photography is just a fun hobby for you and smiled to myself thinking "wait till you see his other cars, lol" but I wanted to respect your privacy. Thanks for sharing those pics...all of your cars look superb .

Haha, Z., being a car enthusiast, I know how you feel. At least we're blessed/fortunate to be driving nicely modded 2014 BMW X5's .

@atomic80, . When I see others' hard work pay off, it motivates me to work even harder.

atomic80 , Nice!!!
Tempting on doing the steering wheel trim, not the whole steering wheel since I got the M paddle shifter already and the only difference was just the stitching.
