F16 power tailgate lack of power to open.

Every time i push the button to open the gate, it tried to open but never success, i have to manual apply upward force while pressing the button 2nd time.

I think the weather seal is just too sticky, and the power lift strut is not powerful enough to overcome that.

Anyone has this issue and ways to solve it?

I've had the same issue and been 4 times to the dealers having replaced the struts and the control unit but still was the same so in the end a slight grease on the rubber seal around the boot to stop it sticking on to the boot lid did the trick and so far has been fine without any issue! Hope this helps as I know how annoying this small problem can be.

No it shouldn't do the slight greasing will just stop the rubber seal sticking to the metal on the boot lid and make it easier when opening!

Had the same issue with my E70 and the dealer could not fix it.

Luckily, I am not having this problem with my F15 so far.

I do not have the issue on my F15, but my F10 would only open a few inches. I took to dealer and they both adjusted latch and did firmware update. That fixed the issue.

This happens to me more often than not, and of course it always happens if my hands are full A few weeks ago, I couldn't get in at all. The remote, the tailgate and the release on the door were all useless. I could hear the lock disengaging but it just wouldn't open. Took me 20 minutes... At first I thought that battery in my FOB was bad and went inside to grab the other FOB but still had an issue.
