X5 Wiring Question (Help)

I'm looking for a 12v wire with constant power on about a 10-15 amp fuse. I'm looking to place a diode so my dashcam can record overnight.

I think we have all done some crazy stuff to the cars over the years but electrical is one thing I don't mess with in the BMWs I would definitely look at something like a BlackVue camera with a power pack

I had a similar problem fitting mine - everything seemed to power down after 15 minutes. The OBD II fuse stays permanent live. I'm RHD (UK) so the fuse panel is on the right hand side, under the steering wheel - not sure if it switches sides in the US. From memory, it's fuse 18 - but the card in the rear panel fuse box will confirm.

Not sure why you want to specify the fuse rating. Use a piggy-back fuse connector and you retain your original fuse for whatever circuits you're tapping in to, then insert a second fuse for your new accessory.

By the way, you only asked for a permanent 12v, but an easy switched 12v on the same panel is that used by your PDC.

Just installed my Blackvue last week, just tapped into the fuse box in the trunk.

Below are a couple of threads on installation and which fuses to tap into.
