Sorry to resurrect an old thread. But has anyone found a solution to this? This is exactly my problem in my F15 but I can't find any information on a solution. I've taken my car into the dealer two times and each time they've told me that it is functioning like it should. I told them my 528i xDrive loaner they gave me cools the cabin in 3-5 min on 72F setting.

i also believe the air was satisfactory in the 5 series but my X5 was never able to keep up in this heat we have right now in FL.... BTW, sold my BMW for a 2016 JKU Rubicon and finishing the build(in essence its never done) im totally happy with the air. Jeep wranglers AC system Pushes REALLY HOT air for when the doors are off, and pushes ALOT of only "cool" air. totally works with the doors off, but it sweats, and its just not as cold as a Japanese car. and yes, the wrangler is black on black, with a partial soft top. same experience on cooldown as with the BMW....maybe better.

Upon typing my response, my buddy just sent me a pick of a service bulletin for our cars. Anyone seen this before?

My A/C sucks but I don't think it's a technical malfunction. It just seems like a poor design - way too much heat comes in from the windshield and moon roof (even with covered) and the system just isn't up the task of cooling everything down.
Max AC is the only way to go, even if it sounds like standing in front of a jet engine. |

I've noticed this issue since the day I drove off the lot.
The BMW A/C system is all bark, no bite. Based on the noise that's coming from the system, I'd expect to have icicles hanging from my beard in a matter of minutes, but i can't even find the damn airflow. After my wife drives and I have to re-adjust the vents, it takes me a very long time to line up the vents to my face. I do the "put your hand in front of the vent and follow the air until it hits your face" trick, but I can't feel the air flow beyond about 6 inches from the vent. It's ridiculous. |

I have not seen it and a/c will be on the list for a second time when I take my 2015 X5 later this month. My wife's 2008 X5 a/c works better than in my F15.

the best I could do is use the "manual"mode the button with the 3 air flow arrows, and fan on 4th level, this makes some cool air againts the sun glazed winshieled. and yes, the AC is way louder than E70 amaizing how evolution goes backwards sometimes.... overengineered?? My AC sucked as well on my 2014 3.5 but i solved my issue. Turns out the rear AC was on. Went into setting and turned off the rear AC and my fronts started blowing like it should.

My AC works great. I admit that at times there doesn't seem to be much air coming out if the vents for the noise I hear but I keep it in auto, using the middle intensity setting and don't worry about it. I recently moved back to San Antonio and it has hit 100 almost every day this week...cool as a cucumber...or whatever that saying is. However, I did get heat blocking ceramic tint on my windows before I arrived here from Colorado, including the front windshield. I know that has made a big difference in how cool the car feels

It does feel pretty weak in most BMWs, but I also don't like the airflow blowing at my skin...

Thought I'd chime in. My wife is an absolute freak about good A/C, and although she never complained about the A/C in the E70, she raves about how good the A/C is in the F15. I noticed how it gets absolutely downright COLD when I have it turned down to 60F, and mind you, it's 100F in Texas these days. On a recent drive back from Houston last weekend, we had absolutely no problems.

I picked up my 2016 Xdrive 35i recently, the first AC that is too cold for me in 38 years of driving. I like it COLD I keep my house at 66 degrees, my relatives wear their jackets in my house but I turned my X5 AC to 60 and damn it got cold, ice cold, 89 degrees out. I noticed the passenger vent was blowing at me so I turned that away, then had to turn the temp up to 65 to keep from freezing. I like it!

I've owned a 2014, 2015, and 2016 F15. Not sure what happened, but the 2016 A/C is dramatically better than the 2014 or 2015 was. In the previous two years I had it set to 69 degrees, with the 2016 I have it at 73 and am still somewhat cold. Not sure if BMW changed something but it does work much better.
One tip, turn off the rear A/C if you can (Settings->Climate). That really helps the front seats. But again, something is different in the 2016...or at least the one I have. |

So the A/C was a bit of mystery to me at first. I would set the temp to 66 in auto but would still be hot. Than I realized when in auto mode the fan display switch is actually now a Limiter switch to high the system can turn up the fan. Mine seemed like it was set to two in auto mode and like in most cars i would leave it there thinking in auto mode it would adjust accordingly. What i realized is that you have to leave it in the highest position for the system to have full fan control in auto mode. So weird. So if you press auto and see that the fan is on two, bump it up to 4 and the fan will be able to blow max a/r when need be and reduce down to low when not. If you leave it in the middle then it will try to keep the temp but wont blow as hard. Now I have it set at 72 it works great in auto.
