Just put on a set of 18" BMW Style 446 wheels shod with Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV in runflat size 255/55/18. Quite a bit more tucked than the 275 and 315 summers but figured that narrower is always better for winter. Plus, like new factory takeoff 18's can be had so cheap compared to used 20" factory wheels. And this tire only comes in 18" and 19" factory fitments in runflat.

LOL i have 18" OEM w/ 255/55/18 too and it's very tucked in, along with the oem flares for the 20" wheels makes the suv looks funny, but same thoughts as u, the narrower the better for snow

We have 6-8 inches coming on Saturday into Sunday. I can't wait to test my new X6, i have staggered Perelli Snow and Ice, 275 - 315. We had three inches last weekend and I had no problems want so ever. I will post pics and a review of how the X6 performs.
Later,
KP

Does this count, I change my vehicle entirely Rather have an idiot crash into this than my X5 in inclement weather

Good snow finally came. It snowed for a good 24 hours, 7 - 8 inches depending on area. I have Perelli Ice and Snow 275/315 20". I went through everything, good starts, stops, they grip in the corners, if you start to slide, let off and they grip immediately. Starting from a half plowed intersection was no problem, right throught the berm and on the road
I'm so glad I didn't listen to BMW about needing the 19" squared setup.
Winters here.

I have the same 20" staggered setup. Our street was plowed leaving a sheet of ice. Experienced no issues, gripped well and noticeably different from my Jeep GC Overland that was equiped with a winter setup. I think the xDrive is also a contributing factor.

X6 Winter Wheels (Style 595)

Hey all. I installed the new winter setup this past Saturday. No snow yet in the DC/NOVA area, but the steady ~40 degree weather is enough reason.

I haven't seen another X5 with these wheels so I was somewhat worried, but it turned out well I think! BMW style 595 wheels off an F16 X6, which have a machined face and a medium gray spoke-color. Same exact specs as the stock style 449 (19x9 +48). Tires are 255/50R19 Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2.

In the box:

Overcast:

The shade shows the contrast between the face and sides of the spokes:
