Very common on diamond cut wheels.

Has this on my F30 - wheels replaced under warranty after 2 1/2 years.

Phew. Your hubs look awful. Do you park in a salt mine?

I would bet that the hub is seized onto the wheel with rust based on those pictures as well.

This hub is from a California car that was always garaged kept. I had to kick the oem wheels off to knock them loose off the hubs. If this is what happens to mild Southern California weather, I'd hate to see what hubs look like from those that have to drive through salt/snow.

My car was a west coast car too with 12k miles and looked just like this. Pretty bad for a Cali car if you ask me..wire brushed mine and painted with a high heat rust inhibiting paint before mounting up my new wheels for winter.

I put some grease on the hub and it works pretty well in ensuring the wheel doesn't weld itself to the hub over the following season

Experienced the same with our X3 on it 4th year, even after warranty expired BMW was kind to change all alloys for free, our dealer used our record of long term customers to support our case.
worrying to see the problem still happening, we told it was specific to a batch of alloys going back to 2011, it will be a killer if we have to go through the same with our X5 due shortly.

Had this on my 2011 E70, but neither set of the wheels I've had on on my E70 have been affected.

the amazing thing is that bmw is replacing the wheels for some of you.
i had a 1 year old trailblazer ss a while ago with same clearcoat issue, and dealer told me it was normal. would not even touch them up.

OP, Were you able to resolve your wheel issue with BMW? For some reason I cannot see your pics, but I believe I have the same issue with my 469Ms. Anyone more recent having the same issue?

I have the same issue on mine. I haven't brought it up with the dealer yet.

Mine is at dealer now amd among the issues is this happening on one rear wheel and all of the center caps. no wnters on these wheels either. Service advisor says they will either refinsh or replace the wheel amd replace all of the center caps

My 2015 X5 hub is rusty and center caps are chipping / peeling as well.
I think this is very common with most of the F15. My E70 was clean for the 3 years of ownership.

Found this over on BF. The OP was finally successful after 3+months getting all 4 of his wheels replaced by BMW. On pg3, he provided me a link to the known issue.

When we spend so much money you except better quality. This is very disappointing. Glad to hear the rims were changed under warranty.
