17 X5 Trailer hitch install
Has anyone put a hitch and wiring on a 17 X5?
It looks like the hitch and wiring is like $1400 from BMW. Did you use factory or aftermarket? How difficult was it? Cost if you had it done? |

I have installed Invisihitch to my customer's 2017 X5M early this year.
I don't know the price though, I only did the labor.

Call Steve @ INVISIHITCH. He is not too far from you on the outskirts of Atlanta in Suwanee, and you will not find a better product or installation crew anywhere!!
All OEM module that mates perfectly to your X. Ask him for the checklist of codeable items that he includes with the programming they do if you have them install the hitch in Suwanee, they are more than happy to do more than just code the "trailer zoom" function.

I installed the invisihitch myself a couple of times when changing vehicles. Currently gearing up to install it again on my 2017 X5. Having done it a couple of times already I'm giving myself 1.5-2h to get it done. The biggest challenge is taking apart the bumper as you have to know where the clips are, how to disengage them etc. Unless you've done something like his before it can be a steep and frustrating learning curve. My first time installing on the 2014 was without proper instructions because the model was too new. Now that the instructions are accurate and you even have posts from other folks walking you through the process it can definitely be done as long as you are willing to put in be effort.
I even removed the hitch and harness from a previous vehicle to reuse - so it's not rocket science...but can be frustrating. ...forgot to mention that installing the hitch and harness on the X5 was the very first time I've ever done any work on any car...just to give you sense of skill level I started at. Hope this helps. Last edited by ramsal; 08-09-2017 at 12:17 PM.. Reason: Spelling |
