The guy said he expects to get in ready to install by 2nd week of January. Final cost including tax is $3,130+$40 to install. I also get a $100 Visa card from BMW on the mail. I guess it is a decent investment since I will use this set for at least 6 months of the year.
I'm considering those as well. I'm assuming you didn't want to get after market wheels from discount tire?

Called both. Same price, same situation. They all order from the same place. According to the person I talked the rims come from Germany and that is why it takes longer to get here. Once the rims arrive in the US they go to a tire center where the kits are assembled and shipped to dealers. He told me you have to order the winter tire package since it is not something they keep innstock at the dealer.

I got my car from Motorwerks and the guy I talked there in the parts department was very nice and helpful. Will probably order from them.

Yes, I don't want to drive a brand new BMW for 6 months of the year with after market wheels. The 19" winter tire package from BMW comes with Pirelli Scorpion Ice&Snow tires which I read great reviews.

The guy from BMW told me I could get the 18" kit way sooner and cheaper but I am not sold on going down in size.

Same here. I usually go down a size, but I don't think there's much difference between 18's and 19's, certainly not as much as going from wide, low profile 20's down to 19's.. The 19's still have a lot of side wall and are no wider than the 18's. We don't need them as long each year as you do, but still 4 months or so. Might as well do the 19's since they suit the car better, visually.

Also, I really like the wheels that come on the 19" package. Not so much for the 18" ones.

That too.. the 19's are the X-Line wheels and the 18's the no-line 35i wheels. I'm also thinking about doing something darker like the dark graphite on those 19's to contrast our white car, think it'll be a nice change for the winter. Spending the money, might as well look forward to putting the winters on, instead of just looking forward to taking them off...

I got an email about 20% off select winter wheel packages from a dealership in NJ. Waiting to see if that applies to the 19" cold weathers, and if they can actually get them. If I can get them for $2500, that's not much more than a 19" after market setup. Can't beat that. The parts guy at my dealership was quoting the internet price on the 19's (no discount, despite pretending he was) and a $400 mark-UP on the 18's (though he did have them in-stock and showed me one of them.. but still ridiculous).

The price I got includes what they told me is a 10% discount for the month of December.

I guess the dark wheels will match well with my Carbon Black car in the white MN winter

Yeah, that would look great too. I'm torn here. Got a price of 2750 from this other dealer, but said 3 weeks to get them.. same thing you said, they're in high demand and availability isn't great. I don't want to spend $3k and not be happy with the wheels, so I'll probably do it and hope I don't regret it until that time comes.

But there's also a part of me that just waited a month for a car and doesn't want to wait another 3 or 4 weeks for snow tires!!

Since this is a 1st year of 7, you will have many years worth of opportunity to sell them if you no longer own a F15and recoup some of your cost.... but then again it ends up going to the next set

Great thread here. Need some guidance from the experts.

I am pumped in getting my new F15 xLine with all season 19" tires. I recently sold my 2003 X5 which I still have amazing winter sets. The tires are in near perfect condition. They are Borset 18" wheels with Dunlop Winter Sport M2.

Question: Can these tires go into the new F15 or have I lost these wheels forever? Help!

rims

Hi all, do you think my setup would work fine for my 2014 X5 50i (picture attached) or should I get BMW take off from ebay and mount winter 255/55R18 XL Michelin Latitude X-Ice Xi2 Blackwall ?

Do you think its too easy to get in trouble with non-oem rims ?

I really dont care about look during winter time more concern about safety, plus thinking I might even gain some $$ since from my prior experience I would need to replace original tires at 24-28K with a new 1000$ set, but if using winter tires for 4months x3 years during my lease - would save me one change of a tires plus I can keep my winters and use it on my next 20017 X5 for another 3 years.
