How far did you go before realizing that the key wasn't with the car? I know that the car does alert you if the car is far enough from the key. What the exact distance is, I don't know.

Also, I know some cars, it is designed to let you continually drive even if the key's not with the car as a safety feature. For example, if the car shuts off after detecting the key isn't with the car and the car is in the middle of the road, that would be bad.

We have 100 signatures of BMW owners and upcoming owners that are concerned with the door seals on the latest model X5 (F15). The door seals easily flap open when occupants exit the vehicle. We feel this can cause premature wear on the seals, as well as, slightly embarrassing to owners as people will point out the rubber hanging out of the door.

We are looking for a service bulletin to fix the door seals so they don't easily flap open. You can view our petition at https://www.change.org/petitions/bmw...-door-seal-fix I have also attached the signed petition of 100 BMW owners.

Why is a service bulletin needed to fix the door seals when BMW's 4 year, 50,000 mile warranty covers these defects? I cannot believe that BMW did not catch the door seal issue during testing, and it clearly points to very poor testing and quality control.
