MY 2018 Carplay options
I have a new to me 2018 and want to add carplay, but im confused about my options and what the best route is.
BMW offers it for $300, but it fails when I try to buy it from the connected car site, not sure if I am missing a option or Wifi antenna or if all 2018's are carplay ready. I have created a account and added the car but it fails when i try to check out. I also see Andream and Bimmer tech have hardware and software coding options but not sure how good or reliable those are so if someone can comment or if there is a thread on this you can point to |

My 2017 X6 came with NBT_EVO version K and CarPlay enabled (Lifetime subscription). My iDrive was touchscreen and iD5.
To get full screen I had to get the iDrive flashed to version Y. But this is for a European spec car. |

Are you certain yours didn't come with it? It was a $300 option and pretty common on 2017 & 2018's, you can use an online VIN decoder to confirm.
Aside from that not sure how to help since mine came with it from a factory. BimmerTech is a safe route to go - you'll probably pay more than other vendors/online options but you'll also get support from them, unlike most of the other options. |
