Remote parking? It just pulls the car in and out of the garage? That's it? Isn't Volvo working on a car that'll actually go and park the car and come to you when you call it?

That remote....so damn big. It'll be like carrying two cell phones.

As far as Gesture Control goes...we'll see when it comes out. Sounds great, but in reality....

The touch screen....one reason why I like German cars is I don't have to touch the screen and leave finger prints. I guess those days are over.

The Remote / keyfob is being used with the i8, or it looks exactly the same.
There are nav screens with matte type finish which doesn't leave fingerprints anymore.

Sure, I'll give you that...but think about this....Gesture Control now exists, so we don't have to reach out to the control - Convenience. Now with touch screen, I have to reach out and touch the screen? iDrive controller is exactly where my arm and hand rests. Just have to move my fingers. I don't have to reach out to anything. Sounds counter-intuitive to me.

Tesla takes it a step further, the car will park itself. And when you are ready it will come to you.

Although BMW appears to be beating it to the punch with the self park option.

Don't get me wrong.. I think BMW is way too late anyway on the touch screen game I prefer the drive knob as well.. I was just letting you know that touch screens exist that is anti fingerprint.

The iDrive controller isn't going away. Touch will be an additional way to interact with ConnectedDrive, along with the gestures.

There are a couple use cases in my daily driving where I'd appreciate a touchscreen, for instance dialing a phone number. For everything else the controller is just fine.

All touch, like I had in my Tesla, was not the greatest user experience. Some of the targets were too small. I can't remember how many times I accidentally hung up on someone or selected the wrong track.

This will be the best of both worlds.
