I ordered mine with a 3rd row, don't know if its worth it but I feel when needed can be handy with kids and guests. I saw it on a 2013 model, not bad, means you can't compare with a minivan 3rd row.

You can see the 3rd row seats in action in one of the videos at: http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=896395

Jason,
Are we losing dynamic handling package by getting 3rd row?

No, you can still order dynamic handling package with 3rd row.

See the answer from our X5 FAQ.

What are the various suspension options? What is the standard M Sport suspension and what can you upgrade to? Are there limitations on the suspension options with the third row seat option?

The suspension on M Sport package model is just the standard suspension. You can order the Dynamic Handling Package with the M Sport package and you can order the Adaptive M Suspension with M Sport package. The Adaptive M Suspension gives you dynamic damper control and rear axle air suspension. With third row seats you automatically get the rear axle air suspension, so if you order the third row seats and Adaptive M Suspension, you're adding the dynamic damper control.

Jason,
I read the FAQ, but still was confused about whole suspension setup

Based on BMWUSA.com
Dynamic Handling Package:
•Dynamic Damper Control + rear axle air suspension
•Dynamic Performance Control + Active Role Stabilization

But based on info from FAQ it's just Dynamic Damper Control + rear axle air suspension?

I chose the spare tire instead of the third row seats. I figure I'd rarely if ever need the third row, and having a spare may come in handy if I ever decide to get rid of the run flat tires in the future.

Looking at my build sheet - realized I forgot to get the spacesaver spare - will most likely want NON-RFTs later as well - not sure if I can get the spacesaver later or something similar.

I think it is worth
It gives you an option to put kids there. I ordered it. Although it is tight for my kids (11&9) but it provides an option to store more people... Adult will be REAL tight!

How much smaller in dimensions is this new X5 compared to say the MB GL class? BMW NA website does not have the specs posted last time I checked and the little drawings are too small to read the numbers.

Check edmunds and do a compare. If they don't have the F15 specs, use the E70, shouldn't be much different. Supposedly 7% more cargo space in the back and you can maybe assume a touch more rear leg room.

That's what I've seen too, you can't get DPC if you get the 3rd row. You're limited to just DDC and the rear air suspension.

Stopped by the BMW dealer yesterday to see the new X5. Definitely not big enough for our needs, especially for the price. At this point it will be either a MB GL or maybe something more normal like a Durango R/T, Acadia Denali, or Odyssey Touring Elite. Bummer, though the MB is super nice (but $$$).

I have third row seats and will post pics tomorrow. They're definitely worth it if you're contemplating having them. Seems like a tad more room than in the e70.

0-1 Toddlers = optional
2+ Toddlers = mandatory

Wife has 3rd row in her Pilot. We use it everytime we have company to keep guests from having to drive in a foreign city. Seriously considering 3rd row in a F15 in lieu of the Premium Package and just adding leather ala carte.

There's an ebay auction of a new 2014 BMW X5 M with pics of 3rd row. You can find the pics here http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53...mtid=824&kw=lg

We have 3 kids so X5 is too small for us. Went with MB GL350. Size is great, 3rd row seats are very roomy, and fuel econ is great with the diesel.

But its no BMW.

Any info on BMW building an X7?

I know its been talked about but anybody have any updates?

I'd trade in our GL for an X7 in a heartbeat.
