BMW x5 battery disconect

Hi everyone

I have been driving a BMW X5 40e for two years. I really like the car, but my configuration does not have a heated steering wheel, I would like to retrofit it, but for this I need to connect additional wires. In all manuals, the negative battery terminal is disconnected for this.

Who has encountered this, is it possible to disconnect a 12V battery exactly at 40e and will there be no consequences?

Thanks

My car came with the heated steering wheel, so I haven't encountered that. But I've disconnected the negative terminal off the main 12v several times to work on my 40e without any issues.

With that said, I don't know if you also need to disconnect the 12v off the auxiliary battery as well.

Thanks for the answer

There are two 12V batteries in the X5, did you disconnect two or just one larger one?
