I had my blower motor replaced under a third party extended warranty. Same issue as yours bhkj9999, a whining noise that syncs with motor rpm under 2k. Unfortunately, the problem was exactly the same with a brand new blower motor.

I think it's just an inherent design flaw in these devices. BMW also isn't the only brand that suffers from it. There are dozens of stories online about different brands, where people are getting theirs replaced 3 times before they finally get a unit that doesn't make a noise.

Thanks very much for this. Just bought a 2017 X5M that has this exact noise/issue and I was debating about replacing the blower motor, but I think you've saved me the effort! Can't believe this is an issue. lol

Actually, just thinking about this some more - did you get it replaced with an OEM blower motor? Wondering if maybe a third party replacement has the same issue as I have read about some people replacing it and it being fixed.

Same whining noise which seems worse at low RPMs. Blower motor replaced under warranty last week and the issue is not resolved.

Just wondering if anyone has come across other potential fixes...

maybe it is related to cabin air sampling fan ?

IHKA = Integrated heating and automatic climate or Intergriertes Heizung und Klima Automatic or cabin air sampling fan or BMW IHKA sampling fan ? but why is happens when only AC is on.....

https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...attle-fix.html

I don't know if is the same for F15....

This is being actively discussed on the f85 forums but hopefully someone comes up with a solution soon

Groaning, and it's inconsistent, sometimes coincides with engine RPM

I had my blower motor replaced under warranty for this exact issue. Unfortunately it didn't help at all. Either the noise isn't coming from this part, or that's just the way they're built and they all have the same issue.

This thread talks about the same issue for a different BMW model. Has anyone tried to clamp down the AC hose to see if that makes a difference?

Mine fluctuates with engine speed. My F30 did it as well, I think it's just a characteristic of the fan/ module that BMW uses. A little irritating, but it is what it is haha
