Any way to update voice recognition software?

I've heard that it's a lot better on newer software versions. My 2014 has initial version which is horrible and it is basically useless in understanding and I have to resort to manual address input

2014 hardware will not support 2017 ID5 software.

Mine is not useless (2 cars with 2016 version), but ID5 is big improvement. I mostly use touchpad to type and Google send to car.

I've had 0 issues with my 2014 voice control. She understands everything I've said. Actually have felt it's the best system I've ever seen in a vehicle (given haven't had the most experience)

I agree. BMW has the best voice recognition system I have ever used. Usually 90% correct.

I know some systems you could do like a voice training thing to help it learn how you speak. Don't think bmw does that

Trick is to only use words you can read on screen as well as understand when commands requires multisteps.

Oh, gotcha! So how do you for example input new NAV address - what's the easiest way? I found that stock input method with iDrive knob is a pain. Not exactly pain, but it takes way too long (compared to just my cellphone Google maps)

I use touchpad to type out if I am driving. I used to have Palm Pilot when they first came out, so I am used to shorthand.
