Both Toyota and Honda hit home runs with their latest redesigns to the Camry and Accord respectively. Really sleek, expensive looking cars.

Deming's 14 points to quality - and a little Japanese Kaizen - I see what you did there. Just cause I finished the test last week, doesn't mean I forgot everything...

For reference, the only car I ever had spend significant time in the shop was my 2006 Mazdaspeed6 - made in Hiroshima. One stint was 23 days straight. My first car was an 81 Escort GLX...so I've never must have experienced the pre-80's quality you speak of.

This. Also Toyota still is not offering CarPlay for some reason in any of it's vehicles. Those are two negatives for me. Although I must say I am glad they did put out a relatively sharp model update... got a new 2017 Camry for the fiance for a song because of it. Already kind of regret not getting something with CarPlay though, she does not like the entertainment/navigation setup.

I heard a rumor they might start offering it. Not a fan of car play myself as it is too limited and only offers apple maps. I like BMW's own navigation but like the newer versions of i-Drive, wish they would let you upgrade to the latest version like iOS.

Apple Maps, especially through CarPlay, has gotten a lot better in the last year. They have been adding functionality and tweaking stuff on a regular basis it seems. I would still prefer google maps over apple maps but I don't want an andriod phone. Toyota also does not have Andriod Auto from what I remember.

I enjoy driving our Ford Focus daily beater more than I do the 335i.

Sometimes I use car play if it's a really long trip or something. Mostly for Pandora and Spotify. Most of the time I don't bother since I pretty much always use Waze for navigation.

it's not necessary to use car play for streeming from pandora, spotify and amazon which I don't think is on car play. I'm able to stream from any service and have controls (like skips and going back to previous tracks) and also get album art in i-drive via blue tooth. Starting a new play list or radio station can't be done with bluetooth as far as I'm aware, however. Nor sure if I can do that with Alexa.

Yes I can do this also, but for long trips I usually have my phone plugged in and automatically launches car play so I just use it. I can select stations and what not on the cars screen which is slightly easier than on the phone. Again not something I care for much, if the car didn't have it I wouldn't care.

I'm assuming you have car play on your 2016 F150? That's the other annoying thing about earlier car play implementations that weren't wireless. BMW was the first to offer wireless car play which makes it 10 times better, but still lacking.

Yeah another reason I don't use it much since I don't plug my phone in for short trips.

CarPlay's best feature is the texting completely through the system. Being able to respond to a text without having to move my hands or take my eyes off the road is the biggest reason I use it. Responding to texts in other wireless options is just not as quick and easy from my experience. It also lets me use any siri command without taking my hands of the wheel as an added benefit - but I can do that almost as easily with my watch.

I can get text messages in the regular ford sync system so not a big deal for me and I don't use Siri much. Honestly as much as I love my iphone and have no desire to switch to android, the android car stuff is much better IMO. If my gf is with me we always hook up her phone and use that instead.

The Ford Sync system is actually one of the best out IMO - as is most of the technology Ford has. Much better than what my GMC has. I just like the ride and look of my GMC a lot more than my dad's Ford. If I had a Ford I might not use it as much but I do find a need for it in my vehicles.

I agree I've had a lot of different brand cars and Sync 3 is the best I've used. It's ugly as shit but it works very well. The idrive in the 335 is gorgeous but I hate using it.

As for GMC vs Ford for me it was no contest. Now given I had never owned or even driven a truck before this one my expectations may be different. I drove the Silverado and the GMC equivalent (forgot the name) and also a RAM BEFORE I drove the F150. Once I drove the F150 there was no question which one I wanted. The F150 drove and handled the most like a car vs the others were very heavy and truck like if that make any sense. Maybe that's what a truck guy wants but coming from sports cars I preferred the F150.

I also thought the features and interior of the F150 Platinum was better than the top trim GMC or Dodge (although I would say the Dodge wasn't bad, 2nd place IMO). Although they are all soooo much better than they use to be. I love that the US automakers are really stepping up their game.

Yeah - The Sierra and Silverado definitely drive more like trucks than the F-150 and Ram (if you move up from the half ton they are more similar in feel). I like the truck feel and I wanted something that could take a little beating. I have been very happy with my purchase as well - not much I would change! (except to add rain sensing windshield wipers.... my 2007 BMW has that damn technology!!)
