You're the one saying the designers "took cues from" the Maxx. Design inspiration infers lineage. If we're tracing lineage, then the Maxx is certainly not an honest point to start for this particular design element. Not to mention, I'd eat my shoe if you presented any basis for the claim that the designers looked at the Maxx.

What you mean to say is, you don't like that line, and it also happens to remind you of the Malibu Maxx. That's a fair statement, but it's not at all what you inferred.
Actually the 2007 BMW Concept CS showcases that three dimensional characterline above the wheel arch which helps to pronounce and broaden the rear of the car.
To me it did just the opposite...maybe i need to wear glasses?

Cant express how disappointed with the exterior design i am..and thats coming from someone that really likes the first gen..exact same front as the X5..exact same back as the X4...so lame. First gen had a unique design all around.

But oh well..if they can sell the 5 GT they wont have a problem with that.

Sparkling Storm Metallic Brilliant Effect and Red Flamenco Metallic BE and look great in the X6 with its pigment Xirallic that makes it look like a mirror plus lots of spark.

Glad to see increased effect paint finishes Brilliant first was in the year 2008 with Imperial Blue, Dark Graphite, this year Flamenco Red and Sparkling Storm.

Now only missing black, white and silver finally to complete the full range of Bright Effects. Glad to see that BMW continues to innovate with modern technology how are you.

Interior looks great, but I reaaly don't like the shape of the wheel arches and that huge wheel gap.

the rear just killed the whole thing for me!!!
The front is great specially the foglights are now placed where they should be...guess they admit their design flaw on the X5!!!

Ugly. Looks more like 5GT than an X6.

Interior is nice though.

The X6 lost its aggressive styling. The car is executed with more refinement now. But the meanest looking SUV or SAV title stays with the previous gen by far.

The tail lights look as soft as those on an accord and the front is just plain girly looking. There are no menacing angles here anymore.

Oh well, so be evolution. Probably marketing had something to do with it... To appeal to a less radical crowd.

The video would suggest the ride is just as taught and probably a little nimbler -- the chassis looks more rigid around bends.

Perhaps we each have our own definition of aggressive. Compare them side-by-side and there is absolutely no argument as to which generation X6 is more aggressive. The front of the F16 has a much more defined and sculpted front vs the E71 which in comparison now looks plain.

To each his own...

Imagine if we built a version of the X6 taking into consideration everyone's feedback in this thread? We'd end up with a Homer Simpson car only it'd probably be even more ridiculous.

Wow it's so ugly. What happened to the bmw design team? Why all headlights have to connect to the grill? Only reason people buy x6 is for its sleek design and exclusiveness. The design part is two steps backwards. The current generation looks much better.

Now if this vehicle had true 6-series pedigree including the interior... THAT would be a win.

This is just a sleeker X5. Should be called the X5 gran coupe or something like that.

Ugly

The rear is very disappointing. It looks like a rip off from the Hyundai Elantra's rear end.

My X6 5.0 is coming up for lease renewal in Nov. The dealer contacted me to tell me that there was an early trade option so I went to the dealership to see what was on the lot.

I looked around 6 series grand/coupe, 550i, 435i etc etc, and although my car was filthy, there was no car on the lot that could touch it ( I modded mine with the M kit, lights). I thought to myself, I'm going to wait or the new model and just replace it (maybe an M). My God what have they done with our X6. Now what am I going to buy ??
