As a reminder to all, in my footnote, you see a link to the unofficial MPG thread. Cruising at the lowest speed that reaches the 8th gear produces numbers that are substantially better than the DiamondGraphite results. Also, you use the most fuel during acceleration, so if you are enjoying the race to the next red light, I'd be surprised if it would exceed 10 mpg.

I get about the same with my 35i. 13-14mpg.
This is real stop and go driving 24/7. Those they know what the BQE is will know driving on that "highway" is more like local driving. In NYC you could barely get to drive longer than 10mins at a time before hitting traffic or red light or stop sign. Alan |

Averaging about 20MPG so far with 850 miles on my wife's X6 35i x-drive. 2/3 highway but a lot of hills and several drives up the canyon to ski area(Salt Lake City).
Surprisingly getting 14.7 MPG over the last 9000 miles on my X6M with 60% city driving but without much traffic. I drive the M with an extremely heavy foot. Pretty happy with that kind of mileage. Last edited by str8line; 01-18-2016 at 12:29 PM.. |

. And this is not being conservative. Try tracking your milage, at next fill up when your bone dry track how many gallons are used and reset your trip, at the end of your tank look at how many miles you traveled and divide it by your gallons used. I get around 670 or 700 miles per tank and when divided by the gallons used puts me over what the car is telling me so it's conservative, yours may be doing the same. Sometimes the computers are way off. |

Wow, bumping some old topic. I don't think there is a problem, with 50 getting 15 miles per gallon in traffic is nothing unusual. Main reason I went the diesel route, in the worst traffic I still get 25 mpg, and on average my tank lasts for about 600 miles.

mpg Looks like black magic, some cars seem to be cursed, some others blessed, i have been doing 15 -20 min trips lately in back streets to cover about 6 miles and my average on a 35d is 20 mpg, so is about 15% less of what is supposed to get. Sitting in traffic kills the average.
I got the truck back from service and the average when I pulled out of the dealership was 9.4, so called my SA and turned out they had the car on looking for an issue. Seems that these cars are really sensitive to idling. |

Look at your average speed. 9kph. That's not fuel efficient by any means. Turbos don't do well that slow. Doesn't sound too crazy to me. 35i doesn't get good mileage to begin with. Whole thread on gas mileage that's not 3 years old talks about this. Especially comparing the 35 to the 50 and how the savings is almost negligible.
