From the following list it seems it will depend on the options your car has, then browse that part # and you'll get a good idea of the cost of the windshield itself:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=51_9447 I browsed part number 51317292400, as an example, and it comes to $563.00. I obviously have no idea how much it would cost to install it. Sorry about it breaking, that sucks, but it shouldn't be as bad as you think. Your insurance may cover it, but the deductible may be close to the actual cost. |

It'll be a lot more than $563 since it looks like you have HUD?

Definitely go through insurance. The invoice to replace mine (with HUD and lane departure warning) came to $2,130. Be prepared to wait a few weeks though. Apparently the windshield has to ship from Germany even though the car is manufactured in Spartanburg and was on back order for quite some time.

The cost of the HUD windshield is why I actually got the windshield coverage from the dealer.

I just got a windshield from the dealership (with HUD) and had to wait around 2-3 weeks to get it from Germany. If you are waiting for a few months then something isn't right there.
I am going to get it installed from a shop that installs glass on German cars. It comes in ~$160 and it includes the warranty so the install shouldn't be too bad. |

$1k deductible for glass coverage? Seems a little steep! Mine is $200.

I recently had my glass replaced on wife's E90. I was very disappointed in a way insurance "would" handle it. I have $500 deductible and insurance would not bend at all. Here is the break down, if i would go through insurance i would have to pay $500, if i would use an indie shop total would have been $290. ( including $30 for inspection/emission stickers). No brainier. I got Safelite which is the same brand as all original glass and only difference is it lacks little "bmw" logo. I am not suggesting OP does the same ( factoring in huge cost of F15's glass with HUD, but it may be worth to explore all options including getting OEM glass and letting local indie shop to do the install.

my windshield has bmw logo, driver side bottom corner. I have state farm as my car insurance. My replacement is always 100% cover, no need to pay deductible.

Insurance coverage of the windshield is under the "comprehensive" portion of your auto policy. Your comprehensive deductible would determine how much you pay out of pocket. According to my State Farm agent, a claim for a broken windshield does not affect your rates going forward...

You didn't list which of the options you have, but it looks like you have the HUD.
I'm curious what the final tab is, also, as well as the turnaround.
