Anyone running 275/40r22 front?

I want to put continental dws plus on my x5 and going by the tire sizes they make 275/40r22 and 315/35r22 make the best choices but I am afraid the tires will rub in the front. Wondering of anyone ever try that size on front and if it rubbed.

Thanks

My man, I am 99.999% certain they would rub. I have 275/40R20, well worn, and I just measured it…there is less than an inch clearance to the upper hub arm. Putting a tire with that same sidewall height on a 2” larger diameter wheel (so 1” more radius) ain’t gonna work.

I'm running a 295/30/22 on X5 50i. The wheels are 22x10.5 et 40mm. No rubbing.

That’s a much shorter tire than the 275/40 he’s asking about…around .75” shorter.

That’s a pretty wide tire to put on a 10.5” rim…do you happen to have a pic of it? What size are you running in the rear?

Quick pic I took this morning. I'm running a square setup.

Can't remember the model number but the wheels are "American racing" brand.

Update: 275/40r22 did slightly rub the upper arm but with 15mm spacers it didn't. Problem is tire shop wouldn't put the spacers on nor let me do it. So I had to move down to 265/40r22 in the front.

Did they give a reason for not letting you put spacers on your own vehicle?

I just bought these wheels this year I will use 22s for the first time in the winter this year. I did run 20s in the winter no problem on this f15 X5 and my previous e70 X5.

I also had an issue with the tire shop putting spacers on. They explained that it was a safety/insurance issue. So I just put the spacers on when I got home.

Those that are getting denied the use of spacers…are your spacers hub centric…or are they simply being held in place by the lug bolts?

If the spacers aren’t hub centric, this may be why the installers are refusing to mount your tires with the spacers.

Mine were hub centric but they would only install bolt on ones.
