The 35d will be the wife’s daily, so shorter trips will happen. We may move out a little further in a year, but it’ll see shorter in town trips for the next 10k miles.

I think we found a winner though-

Short in town trips won’t do well for the diesel engine. You won’t trigger the regen on the DPF and may cause lots of issues for you down the road. Also, make sure you don’t use bio diesel (preferably fill up at a Propel station or station that does high volume so you don’t get diesel that’s been sitting).

I loved the idea of diesel but for me our driving habits didn’t line up to how a diesel should be driven (needs long drives) so we ended up with a 35i

Took this a while ago after I saw one of the YT vids. I believe the key is turning 200hz down and 100Hz up. Also if you're using a streaming app make sure you turn quality to highest setting in the app. Makes a big difference. To me Amazon sounds better than Sirius.

Also if using an Andream, Roadtop, etc carplay box make sure to do the so called HK hack and force calls to use OEM Bluetooth and it will also use it and the HK EQ for streaming audio.

Saw the post above about coding B&O EQ so will have to check that out.

Can you share your HK Equalizer settings?

Thanks. I’ll give this a shot.

Just read the entire thread linked above or another thread that was linked within, in any case it was a long one. Seems to be some general consensus that in the X5 vs. F30 and others that the B&O dsp gives more clarity and enveloping sound but the low end completely drops out and the HK hits harder. I'm probably not going to mess with it as I'm happy with my HK settings.

I spent hours tuning my EQ (audio is a big part of my driving experience). Here are the settings I saved. The first ones (Logic 7 off and Logic 7 on) are when I just had HK and the B&O one is once I had upgraded the speakers to Focal’s and turned on B&O EQ. The sound is much punchier and I think probably even better than B&O (JMHO).

The first set is if you like bass heavy. The one I have now works well for rock as well as EDM. I use Apple Music lossless by default and SXM or Pandora at their highest quality (as someone mentioned above). The audio quality is completely different from stock 😊

Enjoy and let me know what you think…you can adjust the main bass and treble depending on your own taste.

Equalizer settings

100Hz +4
200Hz -3
500Hz +8
1kHz +9
2kHz -6
5kHz +8

Awesome, thanks so much! I’ll give these a shot, too.

When we first bought this car I thought “my god, THIS is the upgraded HK system? The standard must be a two-way radio!”

I thought it was broken.

With ppl complaining in some threads that B&O drops bass vs HK that makes sense what you're doing there with the levels. Pick the bass back up way higher than HK and still get the benefit of expanded mode. Talked me into trying it!

Coding Volvo turned out to be NOTHING like we have on the BMW, which is one of the main reasons why I’m back in a BMW. Software is unavailable and dealers mostly incapable of doing anything, heck they can’t even code a higher amp battery and therefore my upgraded main battery was only getting charged to the max 85%, essentially slowly killing it.
