Question about Michelin Pilot Sport tires
I just read that the new X5M/X6M may also come on Michelin PS tires (among other ones). I used to love those tires on my E92 (even managed to sell them used).
1st question: Is Michelin Pilot Sport (fitted to X5M/X6M) a non-run flat tyre? From the video's showing X5M/X6M trunk I saw that the lower part of the trunk was empty (no spare), maybe they just use the newer solution tyre pressure kit (I have one of those, big improvement from the previous one, never used it, but it just looks like something better, who knows..). 2nd question: What are the dimensions of those tires, would they fit the normal X5 (tires, not the aluminium wheels)? Thinking about buying new 20"wheels (OEM, BBS or perhaps RIAL if I find the design posted once on this forum) for the summer and would like to combine them with Michelin Pilot Sport Thanks, Cheers! |

I wanted these for my X5 before selling it. BMW is the only source for that tire configuration right now, exclusive to the X5 M and X6 M. I haven't been able to source it anywhere else.
The dimensions are exactly the same as the run-flat Pirelli tires fitted to the 21" 599M wheels I had. I'm not sure if a 20" configuration is available that would fit, but any reputable wheel retailer can steer you in the right direction.

I have a set of 599M wheels with Pirelli OE runflats for sale in the classified section.
I also have a set of the Michelin Pilot Super Sports sitting right next to them in my garage unmounted. They were BMW test tires. Still have 9/32" tread left and they are awesome looking. And light weight compared to runflats. Shoot me a PM and you can buy them all! |

I have these Pilot Super Sports ready to go as well. Going to mount to Forgestar CF10s for my summer setup. Cannot wait...I ordered the space saver spare in hopes a non-RFT 21" tire would come on the market. Going non-RFT on my old X5M was the best thing I could have ever done...better ride quality and better driving dynamics without all that unsprung weight.

Sorry for thread change but Have you got the Dynamic Adjustable suspension?, if so does it help with cornering/swaying, I test drove this car without it and it was awful on the bends, to much body sway.

I'll be mounting the 21" Michelin PSS tires by this weekend.
I'll take some pics and post my impressions after I've taken a few laps to the coast (CA) and back. TroyMI is correct in saying they look awesome. |

For those thinking about the MSS tyres - have had them on three of my cars now and they are superlative - excellent grip in all conditions (other than snow as use winter tyres) and unbelievable in the dry - almost as good as a set of R888s which are semi-slick - without the compromise. Well worth it.
