exhaust sound
i am looking at getting a x5m 30d or 40d... but i have heard that they can be loud when you press on the accelerator.. i dont mind the sound.. but i got older folks that are not fans of loud sounds..
Is there any way to lower the noise made ? a mod for the exhaust ? |

Okay, I see the X5M as a super SUV- because its so fast. It's pretty loud when you ask for it. You can customise the throttle response setting to keep noise more neutral.
As for exhaust noise from the diesels, they won't have any exhaust noise at all. When you are inside you will hear fake engine noise which is pumped through the speakers. If you want nice, real engine noise from a diesel look at the Cayenne S. By the way, X5M is many leagues above than the 30d and 40d. |

is the OP referring to three separate vehicles, e.g. X5 M, X5 30d, X5 40d, or is he referring to an M Sport 30d, and M Sport 40d? Many people mistakenly refer to the M Sport variant as an X5 M.

I believe you're referring to X5 M Sport, not to be mistaken with X5M (the beast). The M Sport version of most BMWs give you selection between comfort, sport, and sport+. When you enter sport or sport+, the exhaust valves will open = louder. Keep it in normal/comfort/eco if you don't need the extra noise.

If he is talking about the Diesel's then he won't be getting any exhaust noise except the fake noise in the cabin. I don't know about the petrols and how pronounced those are because we don't get them in our country. |
