I just got one off eBay, lifetime code for 11 dollars Canadian on Friday. Guy responded in about 10-15 minutes tops. You can find the eBay seller in this thread if you want.

I've acquired a fair bit of knowledge about some aspects of my F15, but I know embarrassingly little about the navigation/map system. Probably because I don't use it much. The car's a 2017 US car. I've visually identified it as NBT Evo ID5. I think it updates map data over-the-air, automatically, but I'm not sure.
At some point, will I stop receiving updates? Will I then need to do a download and update as described here? Appreciate the help.

If you go to your account on ConnectedDrive you can select the region to update. It will also tell you how long each service is available and or at what cost.

I have a new X7 and the maps are 2018. I looked at one in the showroom and it has 2019-4. I went to the BMW site to download maps and it said it will do it automatically. I went to the car and manually initiated an update and it tells me there aren't any available. Anyone on here know if there is a link for iDrive8 maps?

I would think the dealer would just update it for you since it’s a New model car, they should load the 2020 maps for you. Ask your sales guy to get it done :-)

I just successfully updated my 2016 X5 today as well. Followed post #63 in this thread and it worked great, below are my steps modified from post #63:
Quote:
- Downloaded the 2020-1 map from a Google Drive link someone posted (Thanks!!) - Made sure my flash drive is FAT32 formatted. It's a USB 3.1, 64 GB flash drive btw. I used the FAT32Formatter program to do this. http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/ind...?guiformat.htm - Extracted the zip file I downloaded, copied everything in the main folder to the root of the USB drive. - Went to my car, turned the car ignition on, waited until navigation is loaded - After 5-10 seconds car displayed a message saying it found a more recent map data on the flash drive. Giving me options to update or cancel. - After selecting update, it took about 45 minutes. The car went to sleep but simply pressing the volume button brought it back to the update screen, so it updates in the background, no worries about keeping the car awake. I purchased my EBay code from this link, got the code after a few hours. Although my car never asked for a code when I did the update, so can't verify if the code I purchased actually worked. Guessing the previous owner of my X5 already put in a lifetime code so I bought one needlessly. https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-MINI-CI...T/223760573914 |

Not sure why people still buy activation codes from 3rd parties when you can generate it yourself, only takes an enet cable, esys and nbt fsc generator. Enet cable is like $15 the rest can be found with a google search. Sure, $10 beats the dealer price, but nothing beats free considering you can generate a lifetime code.

The link M3-Mike posted is a lifetime code for $9, exactly what I paid last year, less than the price of the cable and less hassle....
And yes, I am lazy

Paid $10.99 on eBay for the lifetime code. Much easier than generating it myself.

This worked great - thank you so much. I was sitting on a 2014-2 version!
Findings: 1. from a Mac removing the hidden garbage files was an issue 2. took about 40 minutes for the update to run 3. make sure you move all the files direct to the USB not the main folder but everything within the sub folder Thank you. |
