First BMW

Good afternoon all. My wife and I bought our first BMW yesterday. Got it home after a 2.5 hr. drive from the dealership and the it said the oil was low and to add a quart. Did the manual measurement and said the same. The oil level warning wasn't on this morning. Does everyone just think it needs oil? Service history from CARFAX was less than 1000 miles ago. Any tips and pointers on this is appreciated. 2016 X5 XDrive 35i.

Garage List
Probably best to add some. Liqui Moly is highly recommended.

Quart of oil in 1000 miles is a bit too much for N55 engine.

I was wondering/thinking the same thing. Going to pour oil in, in just a bit and run it and give the sensor time to reset. What are the chances of the sensor being bad?

I think chances of sensor being bad are lower then chances of oil leak.

okay. There is no sign of a leak, at least externally. The transmission has started slipping also. It's going to the shop to get diagnosed tomorrow.

It's got 91k. I have been reading and researching and I'm convinced the symptoms are transfer case, not transmission. Going to my regular mechanic Monday to change TC oil.

At this mileage level, changing all fluids would be prudent.

Do you have access to maintenance history by any chance?

The dealer provided the Carfax history report but no mention of transfer case nor Tranny being serviced.
Since your post, it has been to my mechanic and drive train fluids are now changed. mechanic said there was a lot of metal in the tranny. Not shavings, just due to the normal wear, but a lot of it. If it hasn't ever been serviced, makes since why.
Still experiencing some "jerkiness" but nowhere near what it was. I'm hoping the more I drive, the better it'll get.
