3rd row question with car seats in 2nd row questions

Wondering if anyone here has a 3rd row F15.

I am wondering if its possible to get into the 3rd row from the 2nd row if there are 2 car seats in the left and right seats.

Most cars you can't get into 3rd row because they require the 2nd row to be reclined forward but thats not possible if there is a car seat in there, horrible design in my opinion.

The F15 X5 however it seems that the entire seat reclines upwards, so you can get into 3rd row with a car seat in the 2nd row.

Just want to confirm this.

You cannot.

The 2nd row seats bottoms move forward, and the rear of the seat detaches from the bottom frame and goes forward. Then you have enough clearance to get in the back two seats.

Those seats are tinny too so they are good for kids, but not for grown up unless you sit sideways.

You can go through the middle if you don’t mind stepping over the armrest. It folds separately.

From the sides, it’s not great. See above comments.

But it looks like the entire seat, including back rest and bottom seat move together, so the car seat can stay latched. However without trying it out in person its hard to see if'll work.

If you have the rear comfort seats and no 3rd row...those rear seats can be moved forward as well as recline approx 3%-7%.

But if you have the 3rd row...access is gained by the rear seat moving forward AND upward. If you had a child seat anchored to it...it would be almost like catapulting your kid into the back of the front seats.

About 3 minutes into the video below...you can see how the rear seat moves forward & upward to access the 3rd row:

{hmm look like video is not loading...see screen capture pics below}

If you car seat is rear facing there is now way it will work. If it’s front facing… maybe.

If you remind me in three weeks when I’m home I’ll try it :-)

Actually I think you can. We have a third row and when you pull the lever to access the third row, the front seats slide forward and then pivot up and forward. The entire seat moves up. The pics aren't great but might help anyway.

I would be putting the child in the 3rd row first before putting a child in the 2nd row where the seat pulls up.

The reason I ask is because I've looked at many other 3rd row SUVs and the way it works is the backrest tilts forward and moves towards the front of vehicle to get access to the 3rd row. The issue with this is if you have a front facing (or rear facing) child seat then you can't get into 3rd row that way. Only way is getting in thru the trunk. Which is a problem in Canada due to snow and -30C weather.

So does it work with a front facing car seat in the second row? Especially with a booster with a back?

I can confirm that you can get someone into the third row with 2 car seats in the second row. You slide the second row foward/up. It’s easier on the passenger side with the front passenger seat all the way foward. It wouldn’t work with a child in the seat, 3rd row has to enter first/exit last.
