Drivetrain Malfunction
Today on the freeway at aprox 90 km an hour my fuel light came on. Saying 100 KM to empty. The next exit with a diesel fuel station was 20 km away. Just as I left the freeway exit I lost power and went into limp mode. The screen displays “drivetrain malfunction “. I pull over and loose all engine. Electric still works. I tried to start but it just cranked.
It is at the dealership and has 30.000 km on it so under warranty. Is the low fuel a coincidence? There is no way a car should quit just after the re fuel lamp comes on. Any help would be great. Also the dealership has zero loaners and wants me to pay for a rental car. I paid almost $100K ( Canadian funds) so like $50 USD. Lol. You would think they would provide some sort of loaner. My cheap civic gets me a loaner or a free rental. Thanks for the help |

Just spoke with the dealer. They need to triple check as per BMW warranty but they are 90% sure it was the HPFP that went on my car. The fuel level was just a coincidence
But they have to follow BMW trouble tree as they say they do not know why these are failing I get a loaner tomorrow so that’s good. Long weekend here in Canada so maybe next week I’ll get it back. |
