Basically new, but 4+ years old!

They look like they're in pretty good shape. Don't know how I feel about buying tires that old...

The tires are not old. That is a non issue. I would just expect them to be a little cheaper though since they are used.

They are measuring at 10/32, so felt they were close to new. I offered $800 and he was on board. These cost around $1,500 with tax so felt it was acceptable.

I think I saw them for 13xx on tire rack shipped. But 800 is ok I suppose.
You putting these on a staggered or square wheel setup?

These would go on my 611M winter set so staggered wheels but square setup.

Oof. I would not recommend that. The tires will be stretched on the rear, and you'll have no tire protecting the rims from curbing.

This is actually the OEM spec. The Winter 611m set has a 10.5 rear opposed to the Summer set which has an 11.5 rear.

A lot of people don't realize the 611M's came in 2 different rear wheel sizes. I actually didn't know either until about a week ago

That's one way of damaging the transfer box.

As mentioned above... this is the OEM spec/setup, the same way BMW built & sold it if you opted for the 611M 'winter' setup. Staggered wheels (only 1/2 inch wider in rear) and square 285/40/20 tires.

I have BMW's winter set with 10.5 all around. I did 285/40/20 all around for winter tires... got a steal at $500 new Michelin winter tires

One of the tires from the used set had some fender rash. Doesn't seem too deep and didn't kill the deal for me. Thoughts on impact to life or integrity?

I wonder what it hit. You have to assume it's gonna wear out quicker on that spot and render it useless ahead of the others.

He said the fender flare came loose (which I have to think is literally impossible), and carved up the tire. It's uniform across the whole tire and almost looks like someone took a knife to it. I agree that it would wear quicker in that spot but also think in the grand scheme it's fine and wouldn't impact the driving experience or safety of the vehicle.

Eh. I would not worry about that scratch too much.

Aslong as those cuts are not deep and did not go into the steel belts in the tire. If it were me, I would not run that tire, and if I had to, I'd run it in the rear so incase of a blowout you still have your steering tires.

Thats a pretty serious cut to happen from a plastic fender flare. Also extremely linear in shape. Id guess something else happened that they are not telling you.
