It seems as Fond-Entertainment Professional gets an update as well. 10.2" instead of 9.2". And Online Entertainment is a new feature for the X5.

I agree. Additionally, the screen is further from my natural seating position than the dial. The tactile feel of the dial is also nice driving around the horrendous roads of the northeast. I've always had issues hitting bumps and other things while trying to touch a non tactile button on my other cars with touch screens.

Wow, maybe my kids were right - maybe I am old.

About fucking time. Whos the genius that finally thought of this? I bet they got a massive pay raise too.

Way long over due. Should have been here since a few years ago. The whole BS with comboxes and USB adapter/6FL bullcrap was irritating to say the least.

There are times when I find the touchscreen on the new 7ers are really useful (mostly when fooling with the system with the car parked)

Glad to see this finally, but a bit bummed that I'm out of luck in my '16. One thing to change w/ LCI or Gx (where it's reasonably expected), but a model year over model year change of this magnitude stings.

Does that mean Apple CarPlay will work on the current pro nav systems? With an update?

Anyone know?

It says Apple CarPlay is wireless. I think you need USB with Apple CarPlay. Bmw is kinda late with CarPlay. Is there an update coming from Apple that BMW has been waiting for to get wireless support?

Touchscreen? Really? Hmmm how would one be able to reach that screen? I mean the current generation interiors were not designed for touch as the screen is too far.

I certainly wouldn't mind Carplay support, but could care less about the touchscreen functionality...the screen isn't in decent reach anyway, and it's so wide that anything on the right side of the screen is almost out of safe reach.

And given the screen size is increasing, most certainly means no updates to current F85s to support.

And to think I just picked mine up a few months ago...so another 3 years in this one without Carplay.

CarPlay is overrated IMO. I had it on my previous car. My biggest gripe is that you can't switch between media sources and radio seamlessly. You have to get out of CarPlay to play radio. That really ruined it for me. Also, I could do everything in Carplay, outside CarPlay.

I would agree the touch screen won't be useful at all while the car is moving in the X5 because there is no way you can reach it comfortably without sorta getting up from your seat.

That's pretty much what it boils down to. I don't think the carplay options, like maps, are necessarily better than those provided by the idrive system. It might beat out the Mercedes or Porsche system though. And the Audi system (at least in the q5) feels like the stone age compared to the idrive.

As shown in the linked video - touchscreen not required. If Audi can do it...

BMW could absolutely release CarPlay support for current iDrive systems with Controller Knob navigation. Older vehicles like my 2014 m235i would be supportable imo, but I tend to think BMWs business model dwarfs demand from legacy customers and passing on innovation. Just a dream...

Bowers and Wilkins is head and shoulders above B+O in terms of sonic accuracy. Can't even compare.

I believe it's increasing by 0.05" (from 10.20" to 10.25"). Not material, but...

I haven't read a straight answer as of yet - are we getting a iOS upgrade to CarPlay on existing X5's (2015 & up)?
