Nice! Hope you're enjoying it...

Whats that square hole on the right hand side of the lower grille (last pic)?

It's one of the radar sensors isn't it? It's offset to one side so taller front plates that drop below the bumper don't block it, or something like that. Read this in another post on here.

Just had a poke around and in the middle of the square hole there is a small black 'rubber' pencil like think going from right to left, tapered at the left end.
Looks like some kind of sensor....bet 'opasha' will know what it is!

It'll be the outside air temp sensor I guess.

Sounds about right, though aren't they supposed to be out of the direct airflow so they don't get false readings due to aerodynamic cooling effects or some such thing?

Yes I think it should be tucked away somewhere, for accurate measurement it's a good idea to keep it dry too - enthalpy of vaporisation and all that!

I was wondering if there's a cover missing over the sensor on Bauntons X5? Looks a bit wrong somehow to have a square hole there...If my X5 was here I'd have a look!

If it's a cover that's been missing it's been missing since the day I took delivery:

I also have the hole. It's the distance sensor for the ACC isn't it?

I thought so but from the other post the ACC sensor is bigger and more in the centre kind of below where the front number plate goes.

It certainly doesn't look right but from other photos I can't really see if it is there on others.

Just had a look on realoem.com at the front bumper, can't see any other plastic covers / bumgs other than the towing eye.

Looks like it probably is...you can only see the last few cm's of the 'pencil' but looks like your spot on.
