I just had windshield replaced 2 weeks ago thanks to a rock from a gravel truck.
Anyway, the bill was a little over $1300 installed. that's an OEM windshield not Safelite. Since I only have a little over 2000 miles on the vehicle, I opted for the OEM. I am getting a quote of full glass coverage without deductible. This is my second replacement. My first one was on our other car. |

Total of $1,695.23 at a Cincinnati area BMW dealer 3 weeks ago (includes application of an 'insurance discount' of $241.77 and tax of $107.20).
Check carefully when you do your pickup after the service. I needed to have BMW readjust the moldings running down the sides of the windshield to make them flush with the rest of the body and to also clean off small drops of black adhesive. |

Ask your insurance agent to quote it. It's a part of the comprehensive coverage, which is physical damage coverage against acts of god i.e. fire, theft, vandalism, a rock hitting your windshield etc. There is a deductible that applies to each loss. You may have heard it listed as "comp coverage" or "other than collision coverage"
The other physical damage coverage is collision. That's when you bang into something or someone bangs into you. Damage to your car as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Again a deductible applies here as well. Most insurance companies will offer an added endorsement to the comprehensive coverage called full glass. This waives the deductible for a cracked windshield claim. It's usually very cheap to add this endorsement and I highly suggest you do. Keep your deductible high to save money, but add full glass to avoid paying a deductible for glass claims. |

Some states (Florida for example) mandate full class for every comprehensive policy. Make sure you're not in a state like that, call your insurance company/agent. I didn't think I had it (wasn't shown on my policy anywhere) and was very presently surprised when I called my insurance company and found out I had a 0 dollar glass deductible because every comp policy had to have it in FL.
