Adding ACC Cruise
Hi guys, one of the only options I didn't get when purchasing my x5 was the ACC Stop and Go. I think I have all of the other options required to more easily add that but not sure what all would be involved and what parts I need to order. Here's a pic of my build. Also, when I looked up my X5 being built on the bmw website, it actually showed that I have ACC/Stop and Go. I thought I had chosen it but it clearly isn't shown on my window sticker nor is the button on my steering wheel.
Thanks!

To OP, if the BMW build showed it, but you don't have the button, then there's a disconnect somewhere. Did you check the build paperwork that you signed when you placed the original order w/ the dealer? Not sure if every dealer does it, but my dealer printed out my order and I had to sign the printout stating that it's exactly what I wanted. If it's on the order that they agreed to, then they should do something to make it right. |

I'd really like to know if anyone knows the part numbers required to add this myself and if it's very involved. I'm hoping it's not super involved since I have prerequisite options already added. Thanks!

At the bare minimum you will need the ACC sensor (part # 66316865789) that costs about $1,944.75 and steering wheels buttons, leading possibly to a replacement of some large part of the wheel. Wiring will probably be needed as well. Re-coding will also be needed for sure.
I believe you already have the KaFas camera (part #66519281717) and the ECU for Camera Base Support (part # 66519338298). Expect hours and hours of labor. |

But, from a parts perspective, you should only need the sensor and wheel buttons (and whatever wiring harness/cabling that is required to put those in place).

I wonder if there's a way to tell where the radar sensor is so I can just physically check? I do have this odd thing up front and no clue what it is.

Yeah but it doesn't say anything about cruise. What does yours show?

ACC is Active Cruise Control. It's pretty obvious if you have it as there is a 300mm by 100mm (ish) black rectangular radar emitter / sensor in the 'mouth' of the front bumper. And the button on the steering wheel.

OP, you should have ACC. You appear to have the Radar sensor as seen in your pic.
In Canada, ACC with stop& go is "5AT Driving Assistant Plus" $1900, agrees to your window sticker. The buttons above & below the thumbwheel incr/decr the distance that you set, there are 3 bars each representing the safe distance that you select. Missed OP's comment: buttons are not on steering wheel. So no buttons implies NO ACC however; there appears to be an emitter in the bumper. From the owners manual the emitter appears to be in a different location, centred. So is that an emitter? Last edited by barcelona; 07-24-2014 at 04:51 AM.. If it's not there and you ordered it, then you essentially have two choices:
1). Accept the car the way it is (and get your dealer to give you a discount), or 2). Tell your dealer to order another and you don't want to pay any increase as it'll likely be a '15. The dealer should make this up to you. If you already took delivery of the car, then unfortunately you own it. |

I don't think OP has ACC. There was a known defect in the mybmw website where it listed some of the OPTIONAL features under Driver Assistance Plus even if you didn't order them. My build on that website looked just like the OP's, but I only ordered DA and DAP, not ACC (which was an additional $1200 option on top of the other two - it is 5AT which includes ACC and Active Driving Assistant 5AS, which is a standard part of DAP). The window sticker the OP showed is correct - it does not have ACC.
