I think i start figuring out stuff better today. So i purchased the front radar on Ebay, after making some research realized that the sensor i bought is FRR-02 instead of FRR-01. F series and early G series uses FRR-01 sensor. This sensor is FRS. With the new G series they upgraded to FRSF which is long distance radar. And that also change the VO from 5AT to 5AU. So i am planning to use the FRR-02 on my F85 to see how it works comparing to FRR-01.

As far as other modules goes, they are also same on the G series. This is just like the E series High Beam Asist Sensor. I retrofited mine with the Gen2 which responds alot quicker and better than the old gen1 version.

I'm so glad to see you guys becoming experts for when I finally get around to doing this mod.

It will be awesome if we're able to use newer hardware on ours. Good luck!

Purchased the front radar sensor sensor on Ebay. Will need to wait for a bit to get the 8 pin plug and bracket from Europe, along with some other stuff I needed for my Webasto retrofit

Just checked my wiring, there is no existing wiring to ICM for S_CAN_H and S_CAN_L. This means the center console needs to be removed to extend the wiring to the ICM. Just for reference, my car has driving assistance and park assist, so I have the correct DSC and ICM, just not the wiring.

Pin no 3 - S-CAN H - KAFAS module - 12pin black A56*1B pin no 3
Pin no 6 - S-CAN L - KAFAS module - 12pin black A56*1B pin no 4

Are you sure you have picked the right plug? In my notes it says it should be 12 pin black plug.

Its the right plug A56*1B, those slots are where I'll need to add the wiring from ACC module. What I was hoping was that S_CAN_H and S_CAN_L were already there from KAFAS to ICM. They are not.

ACC and TJA Retrofit

Hello all, appreciate the help and great discussion above. I am looking to retrofit a BMW x6 2016 f16 with adaptive cruise control-- ACC and Traffic Jam Assist-- TJA.

I have Parking Assistant (confirmed it can park, turn wheel stop and go) which reduces the amount of parts required for this from what I can determine to --
ACC:
1. ACC sensor + bracket
2. Front bumper grill for ACC
3. Buttons on the steering wheel

I have questions regarding the wiring. Do I need the front wiring harness? 61129355472 --> Is this correct for X6 F16?
Or does my current PDC front wiring harness suffice and I simply plug the ACC sensor once installed into the existing front wiring harness constructing an 8pin (ACC side) to 12 Pin (Wiring Harness side)?
Where would I buy wiring for the fuse box and control unit? "Wiring for connecting the ACC radar in the process of pinning?"

Of course steering wheel buttons need to be applied.

TJA:
Quidzel or
Steering wheel harness and touch control module/sensor. I cannot find the touch module sensor and would appreciate any support on this to be able to do either option.

Thank you.

Those are the parts that you need, you should already have DSC premium + ACC and ICM. there is no factory wiring harness for this, not even a repair harness, so you need to make your own. The part number you posted for the harness is just for PDC. See the thread below for parts to make your own harness

I have been doing all harnesses by myself, so can't help with factory ones.

Touch sensor is built into steering wheel, so it is not available as separate item. You need to replace whole steering wheel. Alternatively you can only buy a 3rd party emulator faking that you keep hands on the steering wheel. Personally I wouldn't do it.

Hello Guys,
Am looking forward to doing an ACC DIY installation on my bmw F15. I’ve already bought the radar, wiring stuffs and the additional buttons for the steering wheel. Am wondering whether i’ll need a new DSC or ICM cause the car already have cruise control, park assist and collision assist with braking intervention. Please, anyone here to help me out. Thanks

If you have Park Assist than probably you do not need to change brake/DSC pump and ICM. Just check ICM on realoem, but as far as I recall it will work out.

When you install a replacement (Used) DSC in the F-series, do you need to code the VIN number or unlock it somehow?

I see the E-series requires VIN unlock on the DSC replacement but I'm not finding anyone who has mentioned this on F-series.

Of course I can apply standard coding through E-sys but I'm hoping I don't need a tool to change the VIN since the E-series tools won't work on an F15

If you Injected CAFD and VO code DSC, esys will write short VIN in DSC.

If you flash DSC, esys will write Long VIN in DSC.

I don't recall needing to code VIN in DSC in my F15. For sure I had to do it in ICM. But for sure I was using only E-sys. Retrofitted ACC works perfectly. VIN was an issue for sure when retrofitting Night Vision. I had to add a box changing VIN in the fly.

Great. I can confirm that Yes, there is no VIN lock on the DSC unit that I bought used from another vehicle. I was able to install it, code it and it was fully operational.

Thanks to you and maaii11 for the feedback.

Garage List
Can anyone provide me with a SVT.xml and a .NCD with this radar equipped?

CAFD identification would also help pretty much
