Would you buy your X5 again?

Hey guys,

With a second kid on the way, it's time to get into an SUV. I love my BMW 335i despite the maintenance issues that it has had. I have always thought the fun of driving the car outweighed the issues that came along with it. My 335i has 116k miles on it and it still puts a smile on my face daily. I may sell it, I may hang onto it. That is yet to be seen.

In regards to your X5, do you have any regrets? I have been fighting going with a 4runner LTD over an X5 due to the depreciation being much better and maintenance being cheaper. With that said, I know I will get more enjoyment from the X5. I am looking at a 2014 X5 M Sport (01/2014) build with 41k miles in a couple of hours. Price seems good at $35,700 which is about what a 4runner LTD would cost.

For me yes.
I even considered having two X5. One for me and one for my wife.

Absolutely.

I had a 2012 Toyota Highlander, then a 2014 X5, then a 2015 X3, then a 2015 Santa Fe Sport.

Last week I bought a CPO (40k miles) 2015 X5 35D with every option available (do not ever buy a BMW without multi-contour seats). Its hard to get away from BMW and the X5, its truly spectacular.

The new Highlander / 4Runners are pretty great, but the cheapness of the nav display is something I couldn't get past. What a bunch of idiots at Toyota refusing to move away from that awful system.

Being that it's the first MY build for the F15, you'd be safer buying one with a CPO. A lot of people have not had major issues with their '14 F15s but there are some horror cases as well. When sh*t hits the fan on these, it really goes big.

That's why I bought one with warranty left and went with a MY 15. Paid a bit more but worth it IMO. Just my $0.02.

Ultimately your decision and welcome to the club! Pics are always appreciated! Good luck.

No, I definitely would not buy my X5 again.

Worst AC system I've ever had. Wish I would have gotten a Jeep SRT instead.

Yes, I came from a 135i and that car was fun. I made sure to get the 50i with the DHP and that makes the X5 fun for me. I would make sure to get a CPO car if you can though.

Ya i was looking at the highlander and the 4Runner and we liked the highlander best but i was just so put off by the engine and the halogen headlights. To me it was principal at that point. Cmon Toyota, its 2017 and you have LEDs in your corolla but only halogen in your SUVs? Makes no sense.

Didn't like the 4Runner because although its my favorite exterior it's stuck in the early 2000's as far as features and it drives like a underpowered truck (clear difference between the Tacoma frame and the Camry frame they're both built on respectfully). So i went to dodge for the hemi and then ended on the X5 and haven't looked back for tech, comfort, luxury, and pure power!!!! Man i love the 50i especially with the RC ultimate.

Of course I'm coming from a C55 with a NA 5.4L that has some of the smoothest power delivery I've ever felt in a vehicle and that think always had me pinned to the back of my seat!

Do it, you wont regret!

My dad had two E70s and is now on his second F15. I had an E70. I tried as hard as I could to find another SUV that I liked better, and I looked everywhere. I ended up coming right back to BMW, and bought an F15.

Thanks guys. I just got back from checking it out and it looks and drives great. The only thing that bugs me is that there was no backup camera. Not a total deal breaker but I'm trying to negotiate the price down $1,500 because of it.

I was surprised as well. I figured it would be standard but found out otherwise.

That's weird. Got a VIN? I'd like to see the options.

No. I wouldn't. Loved my x3 and the x5 isn't the same. Very bad AC.

I think x5 is a best overall mid-size SUV on the market. It's very quiet in cabin at cruising speeds, very comfy. 2 caveats tho:
1. If you want it to handle - hunt one with DHP
2. If you want it to have dynamics like your fbo e92 335i - go for 50i

Given that yours don't have rear-view camera - I bet you are going for 35i AND without DHP. Just make sure this is what you really want to get

P.S. I'm in Arizona right now with dry heat of 106F and I have ZERO issues with my AC. And yes, mine is a earliest 2014 built. Guys who have issues - either have lemon AC or there's something wrong with their x5. In fact I set it to a automatic control to a 2nd blow speed (5 is highest) and I get so cold in 10 minutes of driving that I usually have to adjust it down to 1st speed - lowest.

Yes, but I wish there was a better 3rd row option, then I would literally buy another X5 in 2 months, but now I am looking at others.

No other car makes me feel the way I do when I drive the X5. I actually appreciate it whole lot more as I start noticing how quiet it is, how responsive and expected it reacts in Sport mode. Are there things I wish BMW changed, sure, but even with those, without a doubt I'd buy it again.

I just checked the CarFax and noticed that this was offered as a CPO by the dealer who initially sold the car. Conditionally, doesn't it have to pass a list of criteria to be sold as CPO?

You know we can't see the picture in your signature right? I know sometimes you see what's on your cache but we see "update your account" message.

Fixed. PhotoBucket screwed it all up by making you pay to host images.

Love the X5. But 3rd row is the option that is disappointing, otherwise everything else is simply great. Having said that X7 will be here by end of the year, or early New year. I spoke to my dealer recently and the guy who test drove a X7 says the 3rd row seating is promising with good headroom and legroom.
