But again this has nothing do with your product quality or what it's "worth." In the end it's worth what people will pay. Look at the iPhone X. For me it's Just the nature of an aftermarket intake compared to what comes stock on these vehicles warrants little in the actual performance relevant department which is where I can justify $1000s to be spent. That and wheels/tires which people actually see. And again. I really want to make clear that if I was more well off then I would be all over this product cuz it looks way better than Dinan IMHO.

The intake is not for everyone as well as modding a M. M Tax is also part of the equation. No way to get around it
For me money is just money. Can be made again. Experiences and emotions is what gets me up every morning. I paid double for my exhaust and ended getting downpipes to further enhance the sound. I never thought once that I wasted money as everyday when I hit the throttle that smile on my face makes every penny worth To each and his own. For RK, I think the public would accept a price point under 1000. But even with that don’t think you will get a Herd of buyers Quote:

butt dyno tends to have a placebo effect on "the street"... while data and dyno show what you may feel it doesn't always translate to "the street" either but it's a good way to market and let consumers justify a purchase when you have data to support the purchase. (IMO)

People might not care if its a $500 intake but when they are dropping thousands on something that normally cost hundreds for non BMW's and without "M tax" they want data/reasons to justify the price.

If i had known you guys actually cared, i would have done this already, not a big deal though, i'll get you guys these numbers. just need to find a way to jig the intake to merge into one collector. Give me a few weeks to collect that data, hardest part is getting a stock airbox. -R |

Based on my gazillion flowbench, Vbox, Dragstrip and digital manometer tests on my X5M : Pure Stock X5M(~17psi peak): M division did a GREAT job designing the Exhaust System and the Intake System. Buy an aftermarket replacement for either for personal customization and not a Horsepower Increase. The correct aftermarket part will enhance sound and visuals, but there's very little to any HP increase to be found because M did an outstanding job. X5M plus 3psi (~20-21psi peak) from RaceChip, Dinan, JB4, etc : 1. Correct aftermarket exhaust is worth ~10 horsepower. 2. Correct aftermarket intake is worth ~10-15 horsepower. I pestered Dinan for a week for any data they could provide and received nothing but excuses. They advertise their intake PLUS tuning for a reason. But I do give them an "A" for honesty. Buy RK if you like that design and the visual. By design, it will give you much more turbo sound than Dinan. Just keep in mind the differences in design. Also keep in mind that once you get to ZERO pressure drop, you have maxed the HP gains. So If I designed and sold an airbox that outflowed Dinan by 5000cfm, that would be a great marketing pitch.....but it would not make 1 more horsepower over Dinan at 21psi because it is at a zero drop....there is marketing....and then results. Here is my rolling test bed for turbo parts : |

Volume of whoosh is strictly related to boost pressure. I am running race chip with added 3 psi. I hear the very enjoyable woosh. That being said on my m4 where I was running race chip also and rk intakes the woosh was there but nothing like I have heard online. Once I got a full bm3 tune the volume increased by atleast 50 percent. Car sounds like an angry dragon about to spit fire and burn your village to rubble.
That being said I will be going with a full tune bm3 again for reason of increased woosh and that I know f85 has plenty of extra ponies that are not tapped. I get bored easy and when this phase usually means new mod |
