Knowing these functions are codable (on a 2017 BMW X6 M) I sent an email to a BMW genius.

Genius response:

"Thanks for contacting the BMW Genius Team.

The automatic mirror folding feature is not equipped on your vehicle. At this time, there is no retrofit or update to allow for this feature to operate. Once the vehicle is parked, you can fold in the mirrors by selecting the button on the driver's door near the other mirror controls. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

The heated seat function can be adjusted with three intensity levels, however the temperature of each level cannot be changed. There is no further adjustment for the three levels of the heated seat."

At the very least I would have expected to hear that these functions are codable by your BMW dealer for a charge. Or preferably... you can ask your service advisor to make these changes during your next service appointment.

Let me know if you want BMW to fedex you a hug, and I'll send them a nasty email on your behalf. Kaaaaaaay???
Call me old-fashioned but after 14 BMW's and last one costing $120K all I want is some love instead hearing can't do that.

Hug sounds like a great idea but it's not enough! But feel free to send them the nasty email

I don't think BMW in the US is allowed to code since they would be coding around the US DOT standards. I assume that is the only reason why we have to code in the first place. So it makes sense that they would respond this way.

I still don't understand why BMW cannot code this from the factory for US cars. Many other makes such as Audi and Mercedes Benz fold the mirrors when locking. Don't think its a US DOT thing.

Exactly my point. Other brands mirrors are folding on lock. So this can't be a DOT or legal issue. If the seat warmers are too hot for my sensitive ass then by golly BMW service should be able and willing to adjust the temperature so I'm comfortable in my UDM.

Most of us here are aware that these features can be coded, not sure why anybody would expect BMW to officially announce it or be upset if they don't. In the same way that we all know that you can "jailbreak" an iPhone but I do not expect Apple to advertise it (for obvious reasons). I am just happy that it is possible to code these features, or should i say thankful? Happy Thanksgiving!

whether your car was entry level or top tier they cannot and will not code a feature that is not available in your region. even if they know they can they cannot tell a customer/client they can. same with audi same with bmw and any other marque that has features disabled in certain regions but enabled in others.
