BMW 2018 X5 40D - Suspension Issues

Hello,

I have a question on my 2018 BMW X5 40d. The other day I noticed that the cars suspension acted strange. It felt like there is no damping at all and when I went over a small bump the back end of the car bounced several times. Initially I thought it was a flat tire but on investigating that was not the case. Well to cut a long story short after shopping for 10 min I got in the car again started it and all was good.

Then this morning I noticed that the car was sitting very low on the back wheels. (not sure if this is normal, never payed attention). When I started the car and checked it, it was at the same level. Switched of , switched on, played with the adaptive modes and it was normal again. Any thoughts. Car still under warrantee with 73 000km on the clock.

See the attached photo's for normal and low position.

It’s very likely that rear air springs reached the end of their useful life.

Suggest to replace with aftermarket equivalents made by Arnott.

Just went through that. You should see the hight of your car being low in the back.
Changed both air suspension with aftermarket on eBay from Germany.
Cost $120 for the pair.
Ride is now fantastic ! 😂

It's not always faulty airbags. Ride height control, values, compressor, intermittent software issue. Many things can cause this.
