Exhaust tip have any affect on exhaust valve?

Posted this in another thread, but thought I'd make it separate so not to clutter up that thread.
I just went to a shop to see about having my tips installed, he seemed concerned about the valve in the exhaust and also the air springs in the rear? (Think they are air springs) not exactly sure to be honest. Anyone else find that strange?

What valve? I didn't notice any such valve downstream where I cut the stock tips off to add my aftermarket ones. How would air springs even factor into this equation? I'm clueless

There is a valve on the right side that I believe opens up when you get on the throttle.
As far as the air suspension goes I have no clue why it would matter. I'm confused by it myself

So if you look at the picture - you can see a valve opener/closer located at one side of muffler. He just needs to cut pipes several inches after the valve (my red lines I put on picture are a bit too close lol) to not mess with it and weld new exhaust tips. That's all there is.

As for air bags - they are not really that close to muffler so he can safely cut/weld your new exhaust tips. My guess is he was just scared to damage valve and air bags while cutting/welding, but it's not really a concern. Maybe try another shop, as this guy seems way too cautious.

I was hoping you would comment, you tend to have great knowledge/insight.
Not sure if you meant to post a pic showing the valve or not.
I really didn't think it would be a big issue, but he made seem like it would be. Maybe he just didn't want to do it
When he asked me about the suspension I was confused, especially since he asked if I could turn it off. Probably should have been my first clue to take it else where. I'll try another shop tomorrow.

Ahh picture showed up after I commented.
Thanks DuSh for posting that, that should help.
That looks like it's stock exhaust, would mine be any different because it's Msport?

Sorry i forgot to add picture lol, i edited my post so it has the picture now.
You are right the guy was just scared to mess something up with. Just try another shop. I mean cutting off stock tips and welding new ones should be pretty safe and straightforward procedure. It's possible that guy was just reluctant to do it. It happens.

So the muffler itself and everything else will be same in your car, except you will have trapezoid tips (instead of round ones shown in my pic). It's still going to be same procedure: cut off tips, weld in your new ones several inches from valve.

What kind of tips are you going with if you don't mind me asking? Quad ones?

Oh I see. They do look nice! Yeah, might need to weld a small extension - but a good muffler shop should do it.
If you'll be able to get it done - please post pics, interesting how they will turn out.

I was thinking about it, and it would be much easier to do it while they are off

Lol I know. I have a carbon mid trunk spoiler on the way as well, not sure what will look better. Black or polished. I should take a poll lol

Powder coat! Would last much much longer and resist road salt and elements much better. Tough to paint chrome sometimes too. Not the best surface to stick too. Mines already peeling. But I didn't do a great job.

I'm not sure if it's chrome, or just polished stainless to be honest.

Same difference lol. That "polished" metal is hard to paint.
