I have a X5 on loan for a day as an attempt to sway me. What should I look out for>

I am strongly considering a 2014 X5 with 39,000 miles on it. I have it until noon tomorrow.

Per this thread....
https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=970052

It seems like common issues are the steering column adjustment and telescoping, drivers side window seal, trunk rattle, and cracks in the driver's seat are common. Is there anything else I should look out for? If it has leaks, where should I look under the hood? Anything else?

Thanks in advance.

I have the X5 until noon tomorrow so I can go through it pretty thoroughly. I've ran Carfax and Autocheck on it already.

Is it a CPO? If not then there's only so much you can find with a visual inspection that being said everything you mentioned seems to be on point on what to look out for. Should definitely check tires as the 20"+ tires are very expensive and I have seen some worn out tires sold on used cars even at bmw dealers. It'll be hard to find leaks visually. Personally I would have a ppi done before purchase with a trusted shop because you can have ppis done at two different shops yet have two different outcomes on what needs to be taken care of, I experienced that as well. Goodluck with your purchase

It is not a CPO. I printed off a diy checklist but I'm also going to take it somewhere to get a PPI. Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the input. I've decided to not get this one. They offered me a warranty with Warranty Solutions however they seem to be a mixed bag when it comes to paying out claims. I'm going to look at a CPO and possibly another vehicle all together.

I bought a 2014 CPO in November of 2017, and it has been great. The only issue was the noise from the moving steering column, which they fixed. I bought it with 33,000 miles and have put about 20,000 miles on it, and I am very happy with it.

I've found 2 CPOs in the 32k range that we are going to look at. Also, in the running is a 2018 Armada or a 2018 VW Atlas. They are all pretty closely priced.

A Armada and an Atlas are in the same conversation with the X5? Im offended. You're on the wrong forum.

Correct, if price is the only thing you are considering, you are looking at the wrong car. I would think more like Cayenne, Q7 and X5.

I purchased a 2019 VW Atlas SEL. Price was not an issue. I paid $40,000. I was not willing to pay $27,000 for a used X5 that was not CPO. I was willing to pay low to mid 30s for a used X5 but none near me were what I wanted. A $26,000 used BMW, and $39,000 used Armada, and a $40,000 NEW VW Atlas were in the same conversation being that one of my kids is 6'1" (14 years old) and I'm 6'3" and he sits behind me. A USED BMW isn't that big of a deal. Sure it's sporty but it will never be a 900RWHP Single Turbo Supra like the one I have in my garage. Settle down.

I have a F150 for utility, the Atlas for the family hauler, and a 900HP Supra for fun.

Continue being offended.
