Really BAD MPG on a 2015 35i
I'm getting really poor gas mileage with my 2015 X6 Xdrive 35i. It has 3,000 miles, and has never averaged above 13 MPG. I live in Los Angeles, drive conservatively (mostly in comfort mode), and spend 70% of the time in traffic, 15% on clear freeway, and 15% on clear city streets. I use 91 grade gasoline, and drive with vever more than one passenger and no cargo.
Is this normal for car with 3000 miles on it? Should I take it in to be looked at? Thanks! Here is a breakdown of the last 210 miles: Last edited by DiamondGraphite; 11-05-2015 at 11:42 AM.. |

DiamondGraphite , that looks right with sitting on the traffic.
Mine is averaged at 15.5mpg for mainly street driving.

Wow, I'm not getting this or maybe I converted this all wrong. Our 35i best combined mileage was 10.5L / 100 km or 22.4 miles / gallon. Our worst fuel consumption thus far was 11.2L / 100 km or 21 miles / gallon. Looking at our E70 that had the 4.8L I was averaging 17L / 100 KM or 13.8 miles / gallon.
I went on www.fueleconomy.gov and they state the following which seems to be in line with my wife's X5: City 18 MPG Combined 21 MPG Highway 27 MPG

I'm glad I don't drive in traffic... I average 18.8 and I'm always in SPORT with the shifter moved to sport, and I'm often over 80mph (so bad wind resistance) . Last edited by wearenh; 11-06-2015 at 09:41 AM.. |

Are you guys using premium fuel? Those figures seem low. 24mpg should be the average for 35i xDrive.

That's odd. When I had my E70 35i xDrive, I was getting 20.5mpg. It did get better after the first oil change. They said the F15 should be even more efficient than the E70. Even my X5M gets 16mpg avg, which isn't too terrible as I gun it every chance I could.

Not sure if you guys are actually reading what is being written? Mostly city or bumper to bumper traffic is what's causing low mpg.. I use 93 octane only.

35i xdrive - 16mpg
I'm getting roughly 16mpg (14.7L/100km) with 90% rush-hour diving in Vancouver. Mostly in Sport mode - gotta have at least some fun.
I'm curious to see how my recently installed MPPK will affect my mileage. |

I got 15.5mpg on my 650GC with the same driving condition as my X5.
And on my trip to Las Vegas, I got 17.7mpg on the 650. If I remember correctly, I got 22mpg on my X5 35i on the trip to Las Vegas.

I've been to parts of the country where "city road" means a stretch of road with a stop light every Mile or even every few miles. That's probably what the great EPA figures are based off of.
If you live in a densely populated area, there are traffic lights every few hundred feet and they are not always in sync. Stop and go stop iand go. Two miles can take you 25 mins on a local road. That's why some people are getting poor readings (I'm getting about 14.5, sport mode almost all the time) After keeping track in my last 3 cars, it's always revolves that same number. I've gotten used to it. |

Another reason to go diesel. My X3 V6 got 15ish MPG in short commutes/traffic driving. My X5d is getting 19-20MPG on the driving behavior.
To answer your question, 13 MPG. does not seem wrong. |
