Its the same for the i8. BMW can only handle 16A 1-phase charging vs Tesla 3-phase 32A. Not worth it.

Turbodog72 - did you get your 40e fixed and all back to normal? Any details on what went wrong? If all ok, have you enjoyed the first few weeks with it?

My new car arrives any day now. I hate the wait!
Not sure what was wrong with the other car.

Just wondering how your dealer took care of you for this long - did they let you drive the 35d the entire time?

So is it true that you can't order 3rd row seating on a 40e?

We've got level 1 and level 2 chargers...level 1's are the slow charging plug ins .
Then you have the level 2 residential wall mount and normal stand alone parking lot chargers which takes 4to6 hrs.
Lastly you have the level 3 also called super charging station or chargers which takes 30min to 1 hr.
The battery on vehicles that accept level 3 are different than ones that accept level 1 or 2.

That's correct. If you really need the 3rd row and want plug in hybrid, take a look at the new XC90 T8!

Guess what, the second car had to be rejected by the dealer. BMW NA ordered the second car, but they forgot to add Night Vision and they picked the wrong wood trim. So that car is priced less than my first car and they can't do they buy back because of this.

So the dealer is ordering my 3rd car and it will be here Nov 8.

With the new screw-up they are giving me about $5,000 back (their cost on warranty). $2,500 cash, Tire and Wheel Warranty Free, and Lighting Option for free.

I can wait another couple of weeks and I am happy with the money back.

You can't get a 3rd Row (I don't need this), and you can't get Dynamic Handling package as well ( I did want this badly - but battery takes the spot for the suspension.

That stinks for the wait, but it seems like they're trying to make it right and ultimately you're saving some serious cash.
