Thanks Guys,

I did an expanded search and it seems most are Early September / Mid October within my 100 mile radius.

Found one August 29. It's an 80 mile trip though. Hrmm. That's also roughly when my car is scheduled to be delivered. Timing is tricky.

Karthik, how soon after test drive did you get your code? Many thanks.

Thats how I got it and I didnot tell the dealer that I have it.

Just before I signed the contract I asked him to change the final price.

Remember you need to take the delivery in 60 days from when you get the code.

Remember, when you're using those Un4gettable codes, negotiate without telling them about it, and then after you've hit the best price they will offer, hit them with the code for another 1K off. They WILL try to suck that discount up on you and put that in as profit, don't let them do that to you!

I've got a test drive scheduled for July 29th. I'm not sure if it will work out for me. I don't know if I will be able to order and take delivery of a MY2015 60 days from then. Anybody know when they will start taking orders for 2015. I would think it would be soon... production starts in August. I just don't know, early or late August. If everything went right, I guess I could take delivery in late September. Am I being too optimistic?

They already started taking orders for MY2015.

Go and talk to your dealer. He should have called you when they have started the allocations.

NW pricing

I am trying to order a 2015 35d but the best I could get in the NW is 2500 over invoice. I have tried a few different dealers but no luck. Anyone knows if that's ok for the NW?
Thanks,

Thanks,
I think my SoCal dealer was $2k over invoice. It'll be $1k over invoice after the driving event.

However, I don't think I can go through with my deal. I just got a commercial loan for a property and my lender is advising me not to run my my credit during this time. They will need to run my credit a second time at the close of escrow and I cannot have assumed any additional liability by that time.

That's no big deal, it just means I have to pay all cash. However, the dealer will not let me do that. They said due to the export issue I have to finance. Wow.

I think I'm going to have to go to another dealership since financing is not an option. Even if I have to pay a little more.

This dealership is Nick Alexander and my client advisor was Alex. If you wanted to get you car there, miniminn, know that at least they can do $2k over invoice right off the bat. I didn't really negotiate other than saying I went to a few dealerships prior. This is for an xDrive, hopefully it'll be the same for your Diesel.

Interesting ... I'm paying cash for mine (never have financed ... on my 4th BMW from this dealership). Only thing that tells me is that they want you to finance because they make more money that way ... in fact, I really couldn't get any incentives other than a loyalty discount unless I financed.

Would you be able to finance it, then pay your loan off the next day to get around the "must finance" scenario?

Very interesting indeed ....

Maybe I need to look further away, but has to be more than 500 to make the trip worthwhile. I'll keep sending some emails.

Hey Predsboro71,

yessir, I actually ran that by my lender and that would work, but I'd still like to avoid the hassle if I can.

I already signed the "no-export" paperwork. They are just being ridiculous at this point.

I mean I'll play hardball with them first before resorting to another dealership. I'll let you guys know.

did a little driving today.

BMW of Monrovia - said I needed pay cash, sales rep says they had a big sales meeting and that they could not accept cash offers from anyone. claimed secret service and FBI were involved due to export issue.

New Century BMW - no cash offers, no budging from MSRP for xDrive35i.

Dropped by Land Rover of Pasadena today since I was so frustrated with BMW. Had to get "pre-qualified". They asked for my bank statements, home address, and driver's license. Then they wanted $10k over MSRP. Said there was a big export issue and they needed to verify I was a US Citizen and that I was going to stay here and not export the vehicle. Would not accept a cash offer and also no cars till September or Early October.

Hopped over next door to Pasadena Cadillac and they said they were fresh out of the new Escalades. Apparently the brand new Escalade just debuted 1-2 weeks ago. Wife felt car was too big anyway so moving on...

Last stop of Lexus of Glendale...massage chairs, fresh theater popped popcorn, free computers to use, soda fountain...the place was packed. Saw a lot of people just chilling there enjoying the amenities, some even studying . The GX was ok but didn't have a lot of road presence. Wife liked the price.

after that I headed home and made a few calls to other BMW dealerships. The no cash issue seemed isolated to the dealerships in or closer to the SGV area.

it's tough trying to get a SUV eh

I really want to just finalize and buy the damn car tomorrow so I can move on with my life.

If any of you know of a dealership who can strike a deal at $2k above invoice or better for a xDrive35i AND will accept cash, please PM me. Thank you very much.

Looks like you are in CA. All the dealers in CA are ahole.

If you are open to PCD, contact OC BMW in NY. They will accept cash, no question asked. Few months ago, Siraj (on this forum) got his msport for 700+ invoice.

I had a offers from NY dealers for 500+ invoice. Only reason I didn't move forward becos you can't do MSD in NY state.

I will search my mail and send you other contacts also.

Contact Brian, he is GM at WW BMW in NY. His quotes are very competitive.

Went by a few more dealerships today. Here is what I learned about SoCal:

Dealerships which have sold cars that have been exported are fined by BMW. They lose incentives and need to pay a fine. Too many exports traced back to the dealership means that dealership will eventually lose their license/partnership with BMW to sell the vehicles. So those dealerships which have been fined a few times become especially stringent on cash offers and in evaluating the customer.

Other dealerships which are more on the "up and up" and have a good relationship with BMW and have not had these export issues have much less of a problem with cash deals. Especially if you can provide documentation to back-up your reason for requiring a cash deal.

BMW is really cracking down on this export issue because it is directly impacting the new BMW Dealerships in China. Exporters are basically undercutting the BMW Dealerships in China with the marked-up but still significantly cheaper American BMW vehicles.

As many know, for discounts, more options more discount.

$2k off a MSRP of $60k xDrive35i, for example, is a good deal.
$3k off a MSRP of $72k xDrive50i, for example, is not a great deal.

I googled and checked inventories of all the BMW dealerships I could find in the west, southwest, and midwest.

http://www.schompbmw.com/new-invento...m?model=X5&&&&

This one was interesting. Decent discounts right off the bat. For those who are looking you can see the sliding scale of discounts. Also it seems there are more discounts on vehicles with cosmetic packages as opposed to tech packages.

Assuming you went to BMW of Sterling since you're located in Sterling? The rep I talked to at Fairfax didn't sound like he was going to budge from MSRP since "it's such a hot car" and they "couldn't keep any on the lot."

Got my X5 from Crevier BMW.

On Sunday, we agreed on a price. Among other documentation I brought 3 months bank statements to show I was serious. We were to come by Monday to finalize since the upper-level management was not around to approve my "cash deal" proposal.

On Monday morning, our CA calls me and tells me not to come down because I was linked to an exporter. I had not anticipated this, so I was in the area already since I wanted to beat traffic.

Apparently, because I drove all the way to Crevier BMW from Los Angeles and that I wanted to pay cash, I fit the profile of "an exporter" or someone being paid by "an exporter". Further, BMW NA "discovered" I was linked to an exporter. That's some ninja shit right there (albeit incorrect ninja shit). They claimed one of my past addresses was associated with the address of a known exporter. It's crazy because the car was to be under my wife's name and only her information was provided. We were only married for like 4 months but they managed to associate me with her.

What happened was that my mother sold her house to some guy who exported an X5 car 6 months ago. So that guy's new address was my old address. And we got "cross-referenced" <-- the turning point of every crime TV show right

So I challenged the department and told them I could provide whatever documentation they or BMW NA wanted to prove "my innocence". Over the course of the next several hours, they asked and I provided:
  • 6 months bank statements. This apparently proved I did not need the "$10k" that these exporters are paying regular joes to buy these X5s
  • proof that I still have my 991 and did not export it.
  • my LOI that I was indeed in the middle of escrow which is why I needed to pay cash.
  • mortgage statement, ladwp bill, and cable bill as proof of residence
  • proof that I did not export wife's 981
  • attorney affidavit and character reference

and a shit ton of waiting in between for the BMW NA rep to respond by email after each time we provided the additional documentation. All I have to say is thank fucking god for a combination of Google Drive and DropBox.

It was ridiculous. That Monday I arrived at Crevier BMW 10:30am. I left there at 6:45 p.m. At least I left with the car.

Yeah...so just because you finalize a price in SoCal...doesn't necessarily mean upper management will approve you for the deal...

Crevier apologized for the hassle. They told me that's why they have so many X5s in stock...because the process is so difficult. Said the X5 is a completely different ball game. If I wanted an M4, I would have to pay over sticker, but I at least I wouldn't have to be qualified like that. Or if I wanted the M6 off the showroom floor, he could go $24k off MSRP.

nuts. the luxury SUV market is nuts now in SoCal

I believe you have to attend the event before placing the order to get that 1k credit..
