What has become troubling with m cars is the amount of time the cars sit in development to production and STILL have issues. Bearing issues are now 4 a 4yr old problem seen in M5s to x5s They don't have a fix. My guess is its something to do with suspension geometry or braking. the geometry is likely causing the squeal and destroys the bearings. Otherwise they would recall and fix it. I love the x5m brakes...they squeal a little...no high pitched cat on fire squeal from the m5...feel is a little better too.

Personally I find these issues to be across the board on many manufacturers.

I have a feeling the guys with 20's aren't experiencing the problems. There 4 in my neighborhood....the 2 guys with 20's I flagged down and asked if they were having the clicking sound and they said no....the other Lbb(owned by a soccer mom &#128576 with 21's has been in the shop already for the cliking noise. If that's actually the case amongst others here.....could it be the added still lateral leverage of the large wheels is the culprit? I had asked this once before on here....I know fcjay has 21's

Has any of the X5 or X5M's had a hub seize due to a bearing failure ?

OK, bad news. I have about 1800 miles on my 17 X5M, and I was parking at the airport today and both my wheel bearings are clicking. It's not horrible horrible but it's definitely very noticeable.

Yep... I noticed mine right at 1200 miles. Right wheel only, though.

Are you going to take it in to have them look at it?

Yes, I did last week and the tech said he couldn't hear it. My response... it's a well documented issue, listen a little harder. I'm going back in next week for Dinan installation and they will try again.

Yeah, if they "can't hear it" they're either ridiculously sloppy and crap at their job, or being deliberately inattentive. It's so obvious. They tried that with me, wanted me to come back in and drive them around or something to help them reproduce it. I was like "um, how about no. Figure it out." Jeez. They did.

This sucks to hear. I had hoped, 2 years in, BMW would have gotten this figured out. I have a '17 X5 M that is slated for late October production. The last thing I want to be dealing with is wheel bearing issues agin.

I was really hoping they had fixed it, but unfortunately not. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it gets worse or better. Right now it's worse when I turn right, and it seemed to be worse after a 3+ hour drive than after it had cooled off and I started driving again.

Yay, now I have something else to obsess about.

After 1000km of my third "fix", the clicks came back again. Very good, exactly as I expected.

So here's an interesting thing. I have a Cayenne loaner, and I was parking it in a parking garage tonight. Same exact clicking as the X5M.

I give up on the clicking and crazy brake screetching.

What was performed within the scope of the 3 fixes? Was any one of them: replacement of wheel bearings?

Replaced whole wheel bearings at the second repair. Added carriers to both front bearings for third time.
I won't be bothered again unless BMW has the real solution.
