Just a warning... M badge on the rear of a non M car is a big no no in the BMW community.

Thanks for the heads up!

Didn't know that, coming from both Piet and yourself. I have seen some on the road here in Australia (which are not M50D or X5M), but were generally lazy slap on generic M badge beside the X5 emblem, which I thought is quite silly and often misaligned.

First BMW car, must be a thing then not to have a M on the rear...

Any other warnings? How about painted blue callipers and M accents on the interior (gear shifts, panels, steering wheels)?

Good to know.

Those are alright. I even think M-stripes are fine in my opinion. Those are mods to distinguish your car from the rest. The M badge besides the X5 just makes it seem like you are trying to show other people that your car is actually an X5M which is not true.

That's what I thought as well. My intention was not to portray a X5M, since it is not one , I am taking out the x5 badge, and putting a different M on the rear. Purely for aesthetic reasons.

good thing abt badges is I can take it out if it disagrees

Lots of M badges on the back of BMWs over here. Both OEM & all sorts of aftermarket badges & stripes ranging from the garish to the "not so bad".

Prior to delivery I got the dealer to fit a M badge on the rear of my X5 on the opposite side to where "X5" is. My X5 is an "M-Sport", from the factory it has the small M badges on the front wings, on the wheels & steering wheel & the motorsport flashes on the front seats.

Oh & yeah I like the M badge on the rear, so I guess if that makes me a "bad owner", well then so be it

I've debadged for a couple cars now and it's a habit? My father says people will think I'm a fake for debadging.

To each their own I guess. I did get a license plate that shows what I have, but if you don't know, you don't care.

I ended up pulling the M badge off last night. Now onto ordering a black X5 badge and seeing how that looks.

He is. It's one step below the "M" badge.

Finally got around to fixing the badges on the back. Replaced the not-so-true X5 ///M badge with a black X5 badge, and replaced the chrome BMW emblem with a black one, both are from IND.

Looks great. since both the X5 emblem and the X5 paint is glossy, I think a matte or maybe black chrome X5 badge would be nicer and give it some contrast. Just a thought.

I contemplated that as well. If I end up getting the exhaust tips powerdercoated matte black I'll change the emblems then.

I have the 2018 440i with the M Sport package. Other than the tiny M on the steering wheel and the M on the floor boards, there is no indication that I paid for the package. No M anywhere on the body.

so much fuzz about nothing imho. M package is just a option dude - it's like ordering a extra onions into your burger - do you really want to make sure that everyone knows that you paid for M package? I can smoke you in my 50i 7 seater any day without even pushing my pedal to the end lol and I am hesitant to put M badge on my car. I mean no offense, your 440 is a nice car and I understand the urge to show everyone how cool you are, but I just think this M badge craziness ruined M image that BMW had once

I swear I see much less Mercedes guys sticking AMG to their POS cars than BMW owners starting from e90 328i and 440i and such run of the mill cars gluing M badges everywhere What have this world come to
