24 bit files is a great news, I'd pay double if the original files were recorded, mixed and mastered in 24 bit and offered at some 48 kHz and above. Unfortunately, many 16 bit CDs are rendered to 24 bit and sold as if they are HD, which is not true.
Wow, that is wack then. Agree on the HD versus non-HD lossless, of course. Beyond 44.1/16, I really start to wonder if we could hear a difference in the car with either system. Perhaps totally stationary, but probably not moving at all, would be my guess. Regardless, I'd really like any high end car audio system to support top quality, lossless, HD media.

what medium are you using to store these files? on a 32gb usb drive the space gets used up quickly and transferring to the vehicle's hd is time consuming but i assume the only option for the quickest playback.

I can confirm the vehicle will read a 128gb and even 256gb USB 3 stick formatted NTFS. No space issue moving my collection to FLAC. Nice thing about FLAC support is you can have all the metadata like mp3's. Album art and track info perfectly working.

sorry I missed this. I've been using a 128GB micro thumb drive, not sure if formatted NTFS or FAT32. And it works perfect. All FLAC files. No hesitation, it sounds FANTASTIC, and no complaints at all. HTH!

Hello,

Does anyone else have the same problem with BO speakers?

My center speaker alumium frame rattles against the plastic frame when driving on poor road, like the we have here many unpaved roads.

Sounds like a defective bezel or something to that effect. There should not be any rattles.

Hi,

I took the car to dealer and this is sorted out now. They added some fabric tape to isolate plastic parts from each other. Sounded like there was a technical bulletin on this.

Amazing sound. Not lacking hugely compared to middle size studio monitor Genelec's

Would you say the x6m system was better than the one in your f10 M5? I heard the x5m B&O system and I was amazed.

I had HK in my 550 with Bavsound underseat subs and it sounded fantastic to me. In my X5 I have B&O and I have added a JL 10w6, and I think it is the best all around system I have ever heard now.

TBH, JL's to any system will improve the bass significantly. But the B&O Amp has the power to complement to the JL Audio subs. Great system 👍🏻

I have the B&O in my '15 X5 35d and it does sound very good. I like my music and depending on the source files, it can be really good to awesome. I've heard sounds in some stuff I have listened to for years that I didn't even know were there. My only complaint was the lower end - 20 years ago it would have been awesome…today with the prevalence and ease of subwoofers, adding a sub was a no-brainer. I added a 12" Kicker sub/enclosure under the trunk (I removed the 3rd row seat so had lots of room) with a Kicker 500.1 mono amp. Crucially, I also had taken some else's advice (I bought the amp for an install in a now sold Audi A5) and purchased the Kicker adjusting knob that plugs into the amp - it's a godsend! I mounted it right at the front of the arm rest storage bin so a quick lift of the lid and the knob is right there…keeps the sub level at prime all the time (it is amazing how perfect for one song can be way too much, or too little, for another). I know that Kicker provides a bunch of snazzy setup sound tracks for the system to better learn your native system to match it ideally, but that has not been the issue with mine - it really changes from song to song (more accurately genre to genre) and not based on volume level - that works great.

Worth 3,500 USD? Not really - the Harmon systems are very good (although the B&O dash speaker is awfully cool)…but having purchased my X5 used, I didn't really pay anything for it so it's ideal.
